The Muppets' "Stand By Me" YouTube Video

Part of: NewsFlash

A few months ago those funny fellows over at the Muppet Studios posted a YouTube video with several of their creatures singing "Bohemian Rhapsody."  A truly funny piece, they have now followed up the Queen classic with a version of Ben E. King's "Stand By Me."  It doesn't have quite as many of the characters we've all come to know and love, but it still does have that special Muppet humor… and some violence, Muppet-style violence.

As other websites have pointed out, there is a new Muppet movie in the works, so perhaps these videos represent a buildup to the upcoming (due to be released in 2012 or thereabouts) film.  Whatever the case may be, fans of the Muppets will surely find themselves quite pleased that creatures are continuing to create new material (even if their voices seemed to have changed as they have aged).

Will there be any more clips down the line?  Have they considered rocking out to "Penny Lane?"  Can we maybe, just maybe, hope for a Muppet Rock Band (no, seriously, how much fun would that be)?  Are they considering releasing these songs as an album?  We don't know the answers to those questions, but as we have news we'll be sure to report it.

And now, without further ado, The Muppets' version of "Stand By Me," which is followed by "Bohemian Rhapsody" for those who missed it. And, just in case you're really keeping score at home, Beaker did do a "Dust in the Wind" between "Bohemian Rhapsody" and this newest video, but you'll have to click to see that one.

Special Muppet humor? Found it to be a bit of a bore.

Btw, when did B.B. King cover Ben E. King's song?

Doug, I have to disagree on the funny, but to each his own. As for the slip of the keyboard, it's been corrected. Thank you!

That was total crap. The Muppets died with Jim. End of story.

I really like these clips! As much as nothing can compare to the original Muppets and nothing most probably ever will, I have to admit that these were a great trip down memory lane. Thanks for sharing them, Josh!
