The Amazing Spider-Man is here! Here's our first look at Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker in a new film due out in 2012. We only get glimpses of him as Spider-Man, but it's enough.
Spoiler Warning to follow (for the trailer, not the movie).
The trailer already includes a few elements that certain previous incarnations of Spider-Man have lacked, such as an inclusion of Peter Parker's parents, a first person sequence, and webbing coming out of an unusual place.
The trailer also contains a few classic Spider-Man staples such as mechanical webshooters. It also looks like they're going back to the idea of Peter being bitten by a spider that had been exposed to radiation rather than a genetically enhanced one.
The trailer was brief but it does give a glimpse into Peter's personal life, such as his development since his parents death, and his relationship to Gwen Stacy, Mary Jane being notably absent. The trailer also gives only a glimpse of Aunt May and Uncle Ben, not explaining his relationship to them much at all.
We also get a narration from what I can only assume is the villain, but not much information is revealed about that. The first person sequence feels like a throwback ot the end of the first Spider-Man, though there was less web swinging and more running, leaping, and wall crawling.
It definately feels different from Sam Raimi and Toby Maguire's Spider-Man. Here's hoping Marc Webb and Andrew Garfield and make a fun movie.
