BEST MINISERIES OR TV MOVIE
Bleak House
Broken Trail
Elizabeth I
Mrs. Harris
Prime Suspect: The Final Act
It's depressing how underestimated PBS is. It's public broadcasting, not an infomercial. The long-running Masterpiece Theater films have more bravura and rich characters than some recent Oscar contenders, which would include the series' best to date, Bleak House. Don't let the title fool you, there's nothing bleak about it - Gillian Anderson and some flittering twentysomethings are caught in a dark and murderous affair of deception and consequence when an inheritance of a large sum begins to untangle.
BEST ACTOR IN A MINISERIES OR TV MOVIE
Andre Braugher, Thief
Robert Duvall, Broken Trails
Michael Ealy, Sleeper Cell: American Terror
Chiwetel Ejiofor, Tsunami, the Aftermath
Ben Kingsley, Mrs. Harris
Bill Nighy, Gideon's Daughter
Matthew Perry, The Ron Clark Story
Whoa. Seven nominations? And only two of those are worth mentioning. How sad. Andre Braugher (who should be in best actor for a drama series, but FX keeps entering the underappreciated, though slightly-misleading - there was minimal theft involved - heist drama Thief as a miniseries, instead of a failed drama series), and Robert Duval, I expect a clean fight.
BEST ACTRESS IN A MINISERIES OR TV MOVIE
Gillian Anderson, Bleak House
Annette Bening, Mrs. Harris
Helen Mirren, Elizabeth I
Helen Mirren, Prime Suspect: The Final Act
Sophie Okonedo, Tsunami, the Aftermath
Gillian Anderson. Her Lady Dedlock, a reserved, demure demoiselle who feigns depression in dark corners, was the best dramatic performance of the year. So many rich layers, so many sound bites, so many emotional scenes - she needs to win. I'll hand it to the crafty Helen Mirren, who scrapped up three well-deserved nods of her own. Of the three though, she was the most magnificent in The Queen - a movie.

Evangeline Lilly has had several key, emotional moments on Lost this year. Her nomination is certainly warranted.

Fingers crossed for Hugh Laurie!!
But where's HOUSE?

Not too surprised about Michael C. Hall. From what I keep reading, Dexter is an exceptional show.

Your comments on Bleak House and Gillian Anderson are spot on. I hope she wins.

and where is high school musical???

I hope Felicity Huffman finally get a win here. I'm also glad not all the damn Housewives got nominated. It's pointless really, because they all cancel each other out, which explains Mary Louise Parker winning last year (not that she didn't deserve to--she's a goddess).

i hope that mathew perry win!!

Chandra Wilson was definitely worthy of a nom...Sandra Oh-verated was not. Heigl has been fantastic on Grey's this year (even better than Wilson), whether that is worthy of an award though we will see.

High School Musical 2 should have won an award for best movie! It is just really awesome! It did sell the most music ablums on record!
