Thursday
8-8:30 p.m.: My Name Is Earl
8:30-9 p.m.: The Office
9-10 p.m.: Deal or No Deal
10-11 p.m.: ER
My Thoughts: With Studio 60 being moved, the question remained about what NBC was going to put to replace in that tough Thursday night slot. The answer is Deal Or No Deal. This is a smart move for NBC. Deal Or No Deal is doing pretty well for the network and since it already airs on Mondays, it won't be as bad if it doesn't do as well in this slot. It's not a complete copout, but it serves NBC well to not have a new show go up against established shows like CSI or Grey's Anatomy.
Friday
8-9 p.m.: Crossing Jordan
9-10 p.m.: Las Vegas
10-11 p.m.: Law & Order
My Thoughts: Crossing Jordan, which previously was scheduled to come back in midseason, now returns in the fall on Fridays, preceding Las Vegas. This makes sense, especially since the shows have crossed over on more than one occasion. However, the big surprise is that Law & Order is now on Fridays. Law & Order: Criminal Intent had this spot on NBC's original schedule. This move can be interpreted in a number of ways. First, it can be seen as a loss of confidence in Law & Order. "Brent," who commented on Part I of the Fall Lineup Frenzy 2006 series, reminded me that the last Law & Order series that aired on Fridays, Law & Order: Trial By Jury, did not do very well. At the same time, by moving the flagship Law & Order show, it may be a direct attack at CBS' popular Friday lineup, especially its hit show Numb3rs. Also, it could bolster the ratings for Crossing Jordan and Las Vegas. This may be NBC's biggest gamble in this new schedule and it will be interesting to see what happens.
Overall: NBC really put itself out there by making some big changes. While moving Studio 60 is a good idea, the moving of the Law & Order shows (especially the move of the original) could backfire. I pretty much liked NBC's original schedule and I have few complaints with this one…except that Scrubs is still not coming back until midseason.

Looks like what you'd expect.
For a real TV thrill, catch "30 years of Live From Lincoln Center" on PBS. Great performances by people whose names you know. Including Wynton Marsalis singing (yes, I said 'singing') "Saint James Infirmary".

Finally, someone's scheduling sensibly!
Who on earth would force viewers to (unreasonably) choose between three networks on Thursdays?
NBC deserves some major kudos for this move.

The way I see it, anyone braindead enough to sit through one Law and Order will sit through 2, 3 or an endless number as they melt into a puddle of drooling brainmush on their couch.

Crossing Jordan won't be back until midseason. It was supposed to be coming back a little later this fall but it was pushed back again for another game show.
