NBC was the first network to announce its schedule for the 2006-2007 season back on May 15. That schedule included high-profile new shows such as Heroes and Aaron Sorkin's Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip. However, things changed with the major announcement of ABC moving its Sunday hit Grey's Anatomy to Thursdays where it competes with CBS' CSI…and Studio 60. Rumors flew that NBC would make some changes to its schedule to bolster Studio 60 and its other new shows. Those rumors became reality when, on May 25, ten days after announcing its 2006-2007 lineup, NBC released a new and completely revamped 2006-2007 schedule.
Every night except Saturday and Sunday has been changed. The new schedule has NBC making some bold moves of its own.
Now, here is a look at NBC's changes to their schedule along with some analysis. For information about NBC's new shows and an analysis of their previously released schedule, please check out Part I of the Fall Lineup Frenzy 2006 series.
(All times are Eastern. New shows are in bold.)
Monday
8-9 p.m.: Deal or No Deal
9-10 p.m.: Heroes
10-11 p.m.: Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip
My Thoughts: As rumored, NBC moved their highly touted new show, Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip, to Mondays. It is in a much less competitive slot airing against CBS' CSI: Miami and ABC's What About Brian. Medium, the show originally scheduled at that time, is now scheduled to return at midseason. With the star power both in front of and behind the scenes, Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip could do very well in this timeslot.
Tuesday
8-9 p.m.: Friday Night Lights
9-10 p.m.: Law & Order: Criminal Intent
10-11 p.m.: Law & Order: Special Victims Unit
My Thoughts: Law & Order: Criminal Intent, originally scheduled on Fridays, is now paired up with the popular Law & Order: SVU. I'm not sure this is the best idea. Will viewers really sit through back-to-back Law & Order shows?
Wednesday
8-8:30 p.m.: 20 Good Years
8:30-9 p.m.: 30 Rock
9-10 p.m.: The Biggest Loser
10-11 p.m.: Kidnapped
My Thoughts: The new comedy duo of 20 Good Years and 30 Rock are moved up an hour while The Biggest Loser is pushed back an hour. However, the biggest news may be what's no longer on Wednesday. The original Law & Order, which has been still pretty solid despite tougher competition, has been moved from its signature slot for the new drama Kidnapped. Don't worry. The original Law & Order has not been cancelled or put on hiatus. It's been moved to a different night…

Looks like what you'd expect.
For a real TV thrill, catch "30 years of Live From Lincoln Center" on PBS. Great performances by people whose names you know. Including Wynton Marsalis singing (yes, I said 'singing') "Saint James Infirmary".

Finally, someone's scheduling sensibly!
Who on earth would force viewers to (unreasonably) choose between three networks on Thursdays?
NBC deserves some major kudos for this move.

The way I see it, anyone braindead enough to sit through one Law and Order will sit through 2, 3 or an endless number as they melt into a puddle of drooling brainmush on their couch.

Crossing Jordan won't be back until midseason. It was supposed to be coming back a little later this fall but it was pushed back again for another game show.
