Somehow, Jaime Dugan and Erik Huffman developed crushes on each other in between eating bugs and not brushing their teeth in the Zhan Hu tribe on the hit reality TV show, Survivor. Neither won the game; Jaime lasted 21 days and Erick was out on the island for 33 days. Both were strong competitors. However, Jaime is known for throwing an immunity challenge (that she should have won) and playing a fake immunity idol, which made her look a bit stupid. Her island crush is known for being a virgin.
The pair bonded on the island after finding out they only grew up only 25 miles apart in South Carolina and even attended some of the same concerts growing up. They admitted to dating after host Jeff Probst pestered them at the season finale. In May, Jaime moved to Nashville after graduating from college to be with Erik. That’s when Erik started on the proposal.
Erik explains to Reality TV Magazine, “I told her I had a modeling shoot but went down earlier to ask her dad for his blessing. I had also coordinated a photo shoot with photographer Jarrad Lister and convinced Jaime to do it. Jarrad and I had previously coordinated all of our secret language and cues. We took photos all over Charleston, and we ended up in the Battery, where I proposed to Jaime.”
Jaime chimed in, “When I saw Erik on his knee, I thought he was doing some funny pose, and just stared at him for a second and asked what he was doing [laughing]. I was so surprised!” She later added to People magazine, “"Slowly it started to sink in. I was thrilled."
Weddings are expensive, so Jaime and Erik entered an ultimate giveaway to get a free wedding worth up to 80,000 dollars. This includes the rehearsal dinner at Middleton Place in Charleston, a ceremony and reception at Wild Dunes Resort, a Sunday brunch on Spiritline Cruises, and much more. They are one of the four contestant couples. To watch their video and vote for them to win, go to the giveaway website.
Since Survivor, Erik said, “"Life has been a whirlwind ever since.” Erik is busy with his band, Florez, and Jaime works for a non-profit organization that helps women with addictions. Jaime joked that meeting Erik was "worth eating snails and worms."
