I also caught up with my online friends, who too enjoyed the smaller, more personal, con. The breakfast apparently turned out to be a very unique experience for them as well (having done gold ticket at multiple cons). At the past breakfasts, the guests were either Jared, Jensen, or both, and they stood on the stage and talked. There was no mingling with the crowd. At this breakfast, Charles Malik Whitfield, Todd Stashwick, Jim Beaver, and Misha Collins were introduced, and the immediately started going from table to table to talk with everyone for a few minutes. Sure, their handlers were standing behind them with stopwatches and tapping them on the shoulder when it was time to go, but they were still personable and managed to get in some great conversation in two minutes. I was told that was a first for the breakfast, and many of us appreciated that opportunity to talk with the guest stars personally.
More people came in for the event on Sunday, which was the marquee day, although there were still plenty of empty seats. Jim and Misha were the rockstars, especially Misha. The number of women falling over him at the photo op., panel, and autograph session was amazing. I got the impression he was amazed too. I loved every guest star panel put on that day, and was very impressed that Creation let Jim Beaver talk for an hour and a half. He had plenty of experiences to share, and did so despite iffy questions. He smacked that cheese and chocolate question down, answering its lameness with “Who cares?”
Misha closed out the event, and I saw as many flashbulbs go off for him as Jensen and Jared in Chicago. He did a fantastic job for his first time, was funny, and eventually had to draw the line at pushy fans with their embarrassing requests. “I aim to please, but I don’t aim that high.” I was also impressed how none of the guest stars gave away any spoilers. Jim and Misha caught themselves a couple of times, but they stayed mum. Usually these cons are a spoiler dish fest.
The autograph session was intensely long, but I didn’t mind because unlike Jared and Jensen in Chicago, who rushed through the signings without making eye contact or talking with people because they had a plane to catch, these guys had time to talk with us and write personal messages. They didn’t have to leave until Monday, and each one of them treated fans like we mattered. They were as gracious to us as we were them. I waited for almost two hours for my turn for I was in the last row in gold, but when my chance came I got to talk with all four stars without being rushed out by Creation’s goons. Malik, Misha, and Jim all gave me warm fuzzies, and Todd was a hoot when I asked him about his role in Enterprise, one of my husband’s favorite shows. There was still a very long line after I finished, so I had no idea how long they were there that evening. Judging by Jim Beaver’s comments on Facebook, they left exhausted.

Sounds like you had a great time.
The professors who are writing the book: have they never seen any other fandoms? Stargate, for one. Supernatural isn't any different than its predecessors even down to the character one VS character two wars! Just as much screaming at cons, just as big when they were starting out. Supernatural fandom is just the latest in a long line of fannish shows.
The Creation breakfasts are usually the way you saw them in NJ with the guests going from table to table. It's only with Jared and Jensen that they stay on stage rather than mingle; it's a contractual thing with them as they have some exceptionally manic fans.
