Erin sent some very detailed reports from the first two days (third day coming), all which are posted on her Livejournal page. On Friday they screened a documentary starring Chad Lindberg (Ash) that ended up being a hard-hitting denunciation of Hollywood. The Jason Mann's concert was fantastic, and this time there was elbow room at the evening cocktail party. Word has it attendance was down this year, likely due to the economy.
She attended all the panels on Saturday, starting with Jim Beaver. He briefly talked about his new series Harpers Island and of course had much behind the scenes goofiness to share. Minor spoiler: In episode six, Bobby drives the Impala. She also attended the AJ Buckley and Travis Wester panel (Ghostfacers), and said “they played off each other hilariously.” Fred Lahne (Yellow Eyed Demon) wasn’t feeling well at his panel but “carried on like a trooper”. Nikki Aycox (Meg) revealed that sometimes they had to use ramps to get hers and Jared’s face in the same frame. I guess that happens when working with a giant. She also had huge praise for Jensen and Jared, as well as the entire workplace.
Last but not least came an inspirational report from Becky. Her online name is janglyjewels, and as I’ve reported before she spent the last several months putting together the “Jared Photobook Project.” She collected from fans pictures of them and Jared and got over 200 submissions. People sent in money for the cost of the book, and once she had more than enough money to cover the cost, she set up a donation drive for The Animal Site. She collected $5,000 and made the donation in Jared’s name.
On Sunday, at the beginning of the Q&A session, she presented Jared with a copy of the check, the photobook, a purple wristband in support of animal rescue, and pictures made from a fan in England of himself and his two dogs. Needless to say, Jared was blown away. He recalled the day before while traveling. “I’m going with basically no sleep to go on a plane for eight hours to get basically no sleep to go on a plane for another eight hours to get basically no sleep to go back to work. What motivated me to do this? And then stuff like this happens.” He was flattered and honored. The entire video can be found at Becky’s Livejournal site. Congratulations to Becky and all who donated!
