Slumdog Takes A Bite Out Of Critics Choice Competition - Page 4

• Crass act: Gere, after accepting the award and embracing Lane: “What a babe! I’ve done three with her; I want three more before I’m finished.”

• Most clueless: Don’t expect Superbad’s Christopher “McLovin” Mintz-Plasse or singer Katy "I Kissed A Girl" Perry to be cast in a Darren Aronofsky movie anytime soon. Clearly for many reasons but ... Neither presenter recognized the white-hot edgy director when he neared the stage to accept Springsteen’s award for The Wrestler. Perry actually said for all to hear, “I don’t know who he is.”

• Most irreverent (and best) presenter: Sarah Silverman, on the best picture made for television: “What better place to honor the year’s highest artistic achievement than on Video Hits 1. ... I think we can agree that all the best movies are made for television.”

penn • Hey, he can be funny, too: Penn, right, on accepting his best actor award: “At heart, this is a beauty contest, so I had an advantage.”

I hope Slumdog goes on to win the Oscar for best picture. I agree with you about Richard Gere ( hard to imagine Buddist monks yelling out what a babe).
