On Sunday night, January 25, the 15th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards will air simultaneously on TNT and TBS at 8:00 PM (ET). This live event will showcase peer-voted awards for both film and television work in a dinner-party setting. A seasonal precursor to the Academy and Emmy productions, the SAG Awards differ because the focus is only on acting work, as opposed to editing, producing, writing or directing. Some of the talents highlighted at past SAG shows have been stunt work, voice-over, child actors, and background singers.
A special feature of the night will be the presentation of the Life Achievement Award to the incomparable James Earl Jones, a man whose sonorous and well modulated voice and has added flavor to stage and film classics as Othello, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Great White Hope, King Lear, The Lion King, Star Wars, and one of my favorite Jones projects, Field of Dreams.
Of course, even if Jones had a voice more like Jar-Jar Binks or Gilbert Gottfried, his acting chops could carry work like this:
“Ray, people will come, Ray. They'll come to Iowa for reasons they can't even fathom. They'll turn up your driveway not knowing for sure why they're doing it. They'll arrive at your door as innocent as children, longing for the past. Of course, we won't mind if you look around, you'll say. It's only $20 per person. They'll pass over the money without even thinking about it: for it is money they have and peace they lack.”
For someone who had such a severe stutter as a child that he never spoke in school, this is a wonderful acknowledgment of a lifetime of fine acting.
Below is a partial list of nominees and their respective categories.

He's a good choice Kate - the whole list is great - I'd have a hard time making up my mind if I were voting.
