Rosie deserved better from ABC, Barbara Walters, and The View.
ABC announced yesterday that Rosie O'Donnell won't be coming back to The View after an explosive argument on air Wednesday. Rosie's appearance on the show brought an astronomical rise in ratings and viewers. She was the most outspoken member of the female panel. Ms. O'Donnell spoke on many sensitive and controversial political topics, including the torture of prisoners of war, the unjust war in Iraq, and calling for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice-President Cheney.…

Rosie for president will be next. What say you ladies. How would lard ass Rosie do against your favorite the Hilldabeast? I suggest you listen to Rush Limbaugh to get the true facts. He will point you in the RIGHT DIRECTION because many of you so called ladies are in dire need for a man to whip your ass into shape.

Rosie O'Donnell, gives new meaning to the word idiot. It's one thing to speak your mind and be opposed to a situation, but the crap she's spouting defies logic. A government conspiracy for additional damage at ground zero. WOW!.. Steel can't melt fire... I'll give her a tour of the basic oxygen furnce at a steel mill in Cleveland or Pittsburg, or China if she prefers. They do it every day in this country. The woman's cheese has slid off her cracker. I guess it will take more buildings being blown up in this country, or better yet school buses or schools themselves, before idiots like her realize that there is a real problem here. And these people we are fighting now cannot be reasoned with. Most of them hate us and prefer us eliminated.. If the war in Iraq is a bad thing, I don't know.. I'd like to withhold opinion to see how history sorts it out, but one thing for sure.. We are damn sure keeping these a-holes that want to kill us busy outside the confines of our beloved nation..

Brian is the familiar meaning of the word idiot.

Ruthie,
I want to add voice to the list of people expressing their thanks. I found your artice to be exactly what I've been thinking, feeling and communicating to my friends.
I've been a Rosie fan since way back to VH1's "Stand-up Spotlight". It's been so disheartening to see Rosie's words and actions skewed so badly in the "shi**y cable shows". Thank you for letting people see the real side of this story!
ABC couldn't control Rosie's speech and that's why it ended up like this. Now that Rosie's gone, I'm sure that the show will return to the mundane drivel that they had in the past. I won't be watching and neither will be lots of Rosie fans. Hope the View enjoyed their "10th Anniversary Special" Rosie O'Donnell, they won't get those huge ratings again!
The only person I will miss will be Joy, if she's smart she'd remove herself from this sinking ship!

RE: I want to clarify that Janette only drew on one photo and it was a magazine cut out that was thumb tacked to a bulletin board.... Janette is a friend of Rosie's and I can understand her need to act out. Her friend was in pain.
Actually, Janette was a writer from Rosie's previous show, and had been hired by The View to write material for her. She was an employee of The View, so her actions were not not just "acting out," but was malicious vandalism. This was why she was escorted from the building by ABC. Her friend may have been in pain, but this should not excuse her lack of professionalism.
RE: EH hurt Rosie...Rosie thought they were friends. They had socialized outside the show. On her blog Rosie talks about opening up to EH. So when your friend doesn't back up a character attack..especially on live television...it is the worst kind of character assasination.
Are these adult women are infantile children at a sleepover squabbling over who is supposed to be each others Best Friend For Life?
However, I think that this does get to the heart of the matter. Some (and I emphasize "some," not "all" or "typically") women focus on the perceived emotional betrayal behind the argument between Rosie and Elisabeth and minimize the fact that The View is not a Girls' Summer Camp, but a lucrative business, a TV show. The fiction is that the female panelists are best friends, but as I noted before, this was revealed to be a false picture when the facts surrounding Star Jones' firing came out (she was fired largely because of negative audience sentiment towards her, and none of the other panelists came forward to try to "save" their girlfriend.")
Neither Elisabeth nor Joy Behar had watched the TV shows that supposedly attacked Rosie, nor was a clip of any attack shown on the show when the argument took place. This was not the same situation as, for example, Donald Trump's earlier nasty and gratuitous personal attack on Rosie and her her spouse, which, by the way, Hasselbeck agreed was beyond the pale.
Rosie and Elisabeth were adult co-workers. Rosie could have defended herself against her loutish critics without dragging Hasselbeck into it or setting up false dichotomies (e.g., the big fat lesbian vs the pure Christian). Had she thought that the attacks undermined her position as a panelist on The View, she could have sought assistance from Barbara Walters or the show producers.
RE: Then add to it the EP exploiting it with split screen.
It made for great TV and had everybody talking. Again, the show producers understood that they were broadcasting a TV show.
RE: I feel Rosie deserved much better than she got...she brought a lot to the show..viewers, money, notariety. She deserved better.
As much as I admire and like Rosie, I have to acknowledge that she was as much a liability as an asset for the show. Despite increased ratings and notoriety, interview shows cannot last by exploiting controversy. And Rosie pointless alienated Kelly Ripa, an ABC colleague, when she suggested that Ripa's behavior toward Clay Aiken was homophobic, and doubly unfortunate since Aiken has not made any public statements about his sexuality. The American Idol producers refused to let the View have access to show clips after Rosie harshly criticized that show. And even though Donald Trump was a jerk and a bully, he was apparently also Barbara Walter's friend, and responsible for two TV shows (the Apprentice and the Miss Universe pageant) that NBC wanted to promote. The dust-ups with Rosie interfered with the main purpose of network TV - to make money.
Rosie is supposed to make occasional appearances on The View after her contract expires. Look for this deal to quietly disappear, which is unfortunate.

Great example of condescending, sexist drivel. Rush Limbaugh might be a good source for hillbilly heroin, but he wouldn't know a fact if it whipped him on his fat, drug-addicted ass.
This kind of thing is exactly why I wish that Rosie had remained with the show, and part of the panel along with Behar, Hasselbeck and Walters.

You must be kidding with this assessment!!! People like Rosie who have the ability to use a public forum to express their views make a conscious choice of how they use it. Unfortunately, she chose to espouse her warped sense of reality (ala Michael Moore) to blast every good thing and support the fringe she is most closely associated with.
Regarding how hated we are, that's a product of the media and not George Bush. The left, and I assume you are in this group, have done everything in their power to discredit this administration from day one and won't relent until they are back in power (God help us on that day). The left hates America and has the media as their vehicle to communicate it. If this country had stayed united, as we were for a brief moment after 9/11, we would be much farther along in this campaign against evil. Oh, I forgot, the left doesn't think there is a "war on terror" (ala John Edwards) and that Bush just made it up to promote his draconian agenda.
I would also like to mention that you can't "support the troops" without supporting the mission they are on. That's like cheering for your favorite sports team but not really caring if they win or lose. I'm a Vietnam vet and know firsthand what it means to be a soldier who has no backing at home.
One day all you leftist will regret your decision to blame America first when terrorists resume suicide missions in this country and you are afraid to send your children outside the house. This is not a joke and the sooner all Americans recognize that there are people who want to kill all of us the better off we'll all be.

Tootie..thanks I think the majority of people support Rosie...its just more people are apt to take the time out to insult than they are to compliment. Sad Really.
Alec...Janette worked with Rosie on her show and Rosie brought her along to The View to write her segments along with Helene her makeup and hair person. Both only worked for Rosie. Rosie has spoken about their relationship on her blog and who works for whom.

A lot of people I know admire Rosie, even though they think she's a little nuts. Elisabeth is pretty and that's about it. She has no brain.

The majority of who? Maybe all the plump, homely, man-hating, bitter women out there but not a majority of normal people. Rosie represents only a small speck of our vast, diverse population and it's apparent that you, Ruthie, and all the supporters on this discussion are a resident of that sliver.

To Reply to comment # 28.. If you really are Rosie, and you want to go toe to toe with me in a debate of the crap you are spouting.. All I can say is let's go... I have to assume that you really aren't her, as I'm never that lucky. But it would be fun cutting you to ribbons on this forum.. Anyhow, nice job (if it's really you) making a complete fool of yourself on national TV. "Fire can't melt steel" Unbelieveable..

No decent person who speaks the truth can stay on the 'view' You have to be a liar, and a hypocrite to be there!

Well, folks, interesting discussion, any idea who should replace Rosie? Whoopi and Roseanne Barr have both been mentioned. Until Meredith left last year, there were actually five of them, I think they need to get back to that number, so that it doesn't seem such a loss when they lose one. Rotating co-hosts like they're doing now is such a mixed bag.

Are the Ton's of Fun still around? Maybe one of them would be a great replacement for Rosie. I have naked pitures of Rosie hanging upside down like a bat. Just request color or black and white.

lol boy this site is ridiculous... I just seen a racist , a sexist, an angry lesbian, and an obvious very lonely being all comment on this topic. None of you are right...and the bottom line is OBAMA is president.FUCK your views. Get money, stop worrying about people who make about 5 more figures than you do. Do you see them blogging about you?
