Review: Battle of the Network Reality Stars Episode Two

Bravo's new limited run reality series Battle of the Network Reality Stars returns this week with even more challenging competitions, a more dramatic elimination ceremony, and a chance for Mike "The Miz" Mizanin to do something that no one should ever let him do again: play God.

In last week's premiere episode of this antic reality competition, we saw in the first elimination that Charla Faddoul from The Amazing Race, Heidi Bressler from The Apprentice and Kim McAllister from The Amazing Race were the three picked from each of the runner-up teams to be sent home. In a twist at the last moment, instead of going home the three of them got to pick at random which team they would be switched to compete with for the rest of the series. Though fate intervened for Kim and allowed her to stay on Team Chip with her husband, it wasn't as kind to Charla, who moved her away from Team Miz (and her cousin Mirna) to compete against them with Team Coral, while Heidi was sent packing to Team Miz.

This week, relationships are still strained among team members from the faux-elimination ceremony. Mirna is concerned that Team Miz will treat her differently as well now that her cousin has been shipped off to a different team, while Charla is more than happy to perform with Team Coral who she says constantly makes her laugh, which is important during a fierce competition for a cash prize (and presumably the filming of a reality show), unlike Team Miz who she found to be very deceitful.

Regardless of how each cast member is feeling, the four newly arranged teams must continue with the show, this week facing three brand new challenges including rousing games of Simon Says and dodgeball, which were all capped off with the last challenge which was a swimming relay. Charla, who initially volunteered to swim the relay during the beginning of the episode, decided to back down at the last minute leaving Melissa - who admits herself that she is not a great swimmer - from The Real World to take her place, causing Team Coral to fall behind considerably, coming in last place overall. This spells out only one fate for Team Coral: they'll be forced to send, not one, but two team members home at the elimination ceremony at the end of the episode.

Charla, who ended up volunteering to be sent home since she didn't step it up during the swimming relay, as well as Duncan "Dunk Nut" Nutter from Showbiz Moms and Dads end up being the two voted out by Team Coral and this time the eliminated cast members do, indeed, leave the show. But it wouldn't be a reality show without the trademark elimination ceremony surprises. The Miz, whose team came in first place overall, was given the opportunity to play God with the teams. In order to even out the number on each team in Charla and Dunk Nut's absence, two new reality stars would be joining the ranks of the series. The Miz was left with three decisions. The first decision was that he could send two of his own team members to join Team Coral and the two new reality stars would join Team Miz. The second decision was that he could take any two team members from either Team Chip or Team Gervase to send over to Team Coral and have the two new reality stars join that specific team. And the third decision was that he could just simply delegate the two new reality stars straight to Team Coral.
