Review: Battle of the Network Reality Stars - Guilty Pleasure

Bravo has been having a summer of reality. Included in its lineup is its newest creation, Battle of the Network Reality Stars. The "best" reality stars of all time, or the ones who would agree to go on the show, compete in teams in a variety of events like dodgeball, Simon says, dunk tank and joust each week. Eliminations are done differently every week and a twist is thrown in to make it more unpredictable.

Battle of the Network Reality Stars is a reincarnation of Battle of the Network Stars. The original and popular Network Stars aired from 1976 to 1985. Every two months each year a two-hour special would air. The best stars from each network would face off in various competitions. Celebrities would not even think of doing this type of thing in this era. NBC tried to do it again, but the best celebrities they could get were Mario Lopez and Brooke Burns.

Getting reality stars is the next best thing. Reality TV has experienced a big boom in the last few years and people are left wondering what happened to them. Now they can see them again. All of the top reality shows are represented - Survivor, Big Brother, The Amazing Race, The Real World, American Idol, The Swan, The Apprentice, and more.

The contestants picked are among the most memorable from each show's history. Richard Hatch (Survivor) has worked his manipulative skills. Coral Smith (The Real World) has showed off her bossiness by forcing her team to make her team captain. The other memorable contestants are also back working their magic.

The host of the show is bland, whose voice is his only saving grace. The roving reporters are Trishelle Cantella (The Real World), Bob Guiney (The Bachelor 4), & Omarosa (The Apprentice). They are useless and serve no purpose.

This show is a reality producer's dream. Tears have been shed, backstabbing has taken place, and fights have almost broken out. All of the stars show why they were picked to come back.

"Best Guilty Pleasure of All Time" should be awarded to this show. I will keep on watching this train wreck, then shower to get the dirt off.

I always wanted to go to Pepperdine University because of the Battle of the Network Stars. Never did, though. How can you beat Howard Cosell commenting on Heather Locklear and Heather Thomas? Remeber that episode?

Haha I just submitted a review for the second episode of this show. I'm loving it...it's like freakin' catnip.
