Nip/Tuck: The Complete Fourth Season may very well complete your collection of this series about glamorous plastic surgeons with soul. The Black Donnellys: The Complete Series illustrates why it’s not always wise to bet on the Irish mob. It had a cult following, but never pulled in the numbers to stay on the air. Fans are hoping this release will give it a second chance at life.
It could happen. Just the fact that it’s titled Rules of Engagement: The Complete First Season indicates the powers that be haven’t given up on this comedic series about the various stages of relationships. It’s happened before, as 30 Rock: Season One shows. 30 Rock still has a way to go, but The Office: Season Three aptly demonstrates that well-crafted sitcoms will always have a place in our hearts.
The two “major” theatrical releases this week are unlikely to make so much as a ripple. Georgia Rule is an all too earnest chick flick featuring Lindsay Lohan and Jane Fonda. Delta Farce features Larry the Cable Guy in a supposed comedy about bungling Army reservists who mistake Mexico for Iraq. Expect both films to be in the cutout bins within a month.
