The Duke Says - Ntshaveni Wa Luruli's South African drama about two kids discovering a dead body gets a welcome DVD issue. One of the fellas steals a gun from the corpse, the other takes his video camera, and thus their paths are mapped. Comparisons to City Of God are likely to be flung left and right, is what The Duke would guess.

The Duke Says - Newly restored print for this anti-military, anti-fascism classic from Volker Schlondorff, his debut, in fact. Extras amount to little more than an interview with Schlondorff and a featurette on the score, but the new print and the improved subtitles should be enough incentive, I'd wager.

Well, till next week folks.

The Duke resides at Mondo Irlando

Chris, Sword Of Doom is well worth checking out. And yeah, Criterion do a brilliant job. shame they couldn't grab more extras on occasion. Mind you, extras or no, their release of Kwaidan is immaculate. Dig those colors, would you ever?
