Homicide: Life on the Street – Season 7
Is it just me, or are you surprised to learn that Homicide made it to seven seasons? Not for a lack of quality. Quite the opposite. One of the best shows on television, it was frustratingly shoved into crappy time slots and put on hiatus after hiatus until it became questionable that the sum total of episodes would amount to one season, much less seven.
Season 7 was the final season. The loss of Andre Braugher as Pembleton did sting, but they pulled no punches bringing in Giancarlo Esposito to play Giardello’s son. It didn’t have the same magic, but it was still better than most television.
You’ve seen the best, now try the rest (with a nod to The Duke, my occasional comments follow)…

Betcha didn’t know Dennis DeYoung had a solo career. You can also catch him playing a Dennis DeYoung impersonator in The Perfect Man, but that would require going to see The Perfect Man.

What’s a Predator/Alien? Oh, I get it, they’re packaging both movies together so you can see how much AVP sucks by comparison. Very clever. My favorite misprint on one website has Paul Thomas Anderson doing the director’s commentary on AVP, (actually directed by Paul W.S. Anderson). I wish it were true, though. I can hear him now, “Why are you making me watch this? Burt Reynolds in Boogie Nights could’ve made a better flick.”
