On this week’s episode of the Real World: Austin, the focus of the show returned to the budding relationship of Danny and Melinda. The focus had drifted away from it last week, but this week the episode could have been the Danny and Melinda show.
This week, we see Melinda going out and having fun, while Danny is home alone still recovering from his eye surgery. He can’t go out quite yet, and he feels a bit awkward with his appearance now following the surgery. Him not being able to join his girlfriend is appearing to cause problems for the young couple.
Melinda wants more, but she can tell Danny is hesitant when it comes to the relationship. She is willing to give him space as she tells one of the roommates, Wes, but she also expresses her concern when Danny decides to go out with the rest of the guys for a guys night out once his stitches are removed. She worries about him kissing another girl.
When Melinda goes out, her every thought is of Danny back home; but when Danny goes out, his attention is to a female he meets at the bar they all go to. He takes her number, but refuses to kiss her on the lips as she requests with a simple shake of his head.
This guys night out brings Danny home after one too many, and Melinda is the one that sits with him when he gets sick. I’m not really sure where this relationship is going to go. Melinda is the party girl, but she misses Danny when she does go out. Could this be a sign of a future change in the party girl? I’m not sure. It’ll be interesting to see how this relationship continues to play out.

In response to the question you closed this review with, I think I'd probably like to see a little more of the cast. Danny and Melinda are cute and all but I don't think that the whole show should revolve around them and their relationship, you know?
Specifically more focus on Rachel. Like I said in the comments to a review a few episodes back, she's one of few cast mates in recent Real World seasons who isn't just some college kid looking for free rent and national television exposure.
Good review though, as always. Helps me keep up with my continuing trend of missing the show. Blah.

I thought that I would like this Austin episode, but it focused on Danny and Melinda too much. I mean what about the work? or the rest of the cast? I know that I want to see more of the cast, especially Wes.(hottie!) But really I am sick of Danny and Melinda.

if you ask me i thought it was probably that his mom died. but the more i thought about how the commercials tend to try to dramatize every little event, i thought maybe dannys cry of "YOUR LYING DAD..." and his dads reply of "NO, DAN IM NOT" ....refers to the selling of his old wrestling toys in a rummage sale or something. this IS mtv after all.

yes thank you for the information. danny and his dad seem like they are so close and i just wonder how his dad feels about the whole thing. i wonder if dannys parents were ever even married. and ugh, stupid melinda, i mean i kinda like her but shes such a whore. i live no more than 30 minutes from her home town and I think she is a horrible (yet pretty damn typical) representation of WI. i wonder how shes gonna confort him. a blow job during the funeral service?
