The second episode of this season of the Real World allowed us to see more of what we can expect over the next four months. In last week’s episode, we got to see Danny go through the consequences of a fight. Apparently, the punch he received has led to a fracture next to his eye, and this will require surgery to repair. Surgery that appears to be occurring next week. He’s in a great deal of pain it seems, and the doctor did recommend he take it easy.
This means he is home alone when others plan to go out drinking again. Or does he end up not being alone? Last week, some small sparks began to fly between Danny and his housemate, Melinda. Every guy in the house gave her at least one or more looks. However, it is Danny that has caught her eye. Even with a man back at home waiting for her return, her attention seems to be all focused on Danny.
When he stays home because he’s in too much pain, it is she that stays home with him. The two end up sharing a bed, and a moment is interrupted when the rest of the house mates return from their night out.
A good part of the show deals with the job the cast will have to complete over the time the show takes place. They will be responsible for filming a documentary of a music and film festival that takes places in the area, South by Southwest. The festival took place back in March of this year.
After we learned the task the cast will have for this season, the show’s attention went back to Melinda and her issues with the man in her life back home. A discussion occurs over the phone, and Jason states he has written her off already, quickly ending the phone call.

It's impossible to feel sorry for Melinda after getting stiff armed by her boyfriend since the moment the show started she has been flirting with Danny. I think she had planned from the start to ditch the boyfriend and hook up with somebody.

I hate when people go on the Real World talking about they have a boyfriend/girlfriend and then hooking up with someone in the house. If you know you'll be attracted to someone in the house break up with the boyfriend/girlfriend before you go on or at least take a break from each other.

i think this is going to be the best real world yet....i am glad mel broke up with her boyfriend back home...danny is way much cuter...i think the 2 are so cute....this one is going to be better than the last ones.

Hooking up has just become the standard for the show. I think it might even be a requirement, I just need to read a contract for the show to confirm.

I too think this is setting itself up to be one of the better seasons in recent years. We'll have to see.
As for the hooking up, they usually don't happen this quickly, but I do think they are becoming a natural part of the show. Even on the challenges you see it more and more.

It's sad that Danny's mother died. I can't imagina how it would feel. All that greif... It makes me want to cry! Poor Danny. I saw the preveiws for the next episode-Melinda get's an E-mail from Danny saying that he might give up. Melinda was crying. That's proof enough that Melinda and Danny were made for eachother.
