Pure Country 2: Pure Hollywood Gold - Page 3

He gets a shave and a haircut and then walks into the old beer hall where he got his start. Since it’s the middle of the day, the only one there is the bartender, who recognizes the country superstar immediately. He ends up staying in this small country town for a couple of weeks, getting into all sorts of mischief, and no one else recognizes him!

It’s kind of like Superman - pure Hollywood magic.

Now, I must confess that I’ve never actually seen the entire movie in one sitting. It plays at least once a day on CMT (Country Music Television). I figure I’ve seen the movie in total about six times, although it took about 200 sittings to do it. And I’ve only seen the ending once – and I cried.

Anyway, I see the sequel, and I’m calling it Pure Country 2. It’s an original piece of writing. Dusty dies at the age of 29 and leaves a son, Dusty Jr. His momma, who didn’t recognize big Dusty for the first two weeks of their relationship, dresses up the nine-year-old son and has him tour singing the elder Dusty’s songs. Later on, Dusty Jr. is hurt in a horrible mountain climbing accident, grows a beard, and starts writing his own music. One of the songs becomes so popular that it’s chosen for the theme song for a show leading up to a prime time NFL game…

I’m thinking Tobey Maguire as Dusty Jr. He and George Strait share an eerily similar monotone.

Genius, I tell you. And remember, you heard it here first!

grait idea!!! I'm forwarding your suggestion to other Strait fans....George has to be in it otherwise it's not worth watching over and over and over again....the ladies watch for different reasons.....

My wife and I were in Nashville in September and saw Bill Anderson perform Give It Away. He asked the audience to buy the record because 'George doesn't need the money but I sure do' so it was nice to see it win a couple of awards the other night

Sounds good to me...but they'd have to get the okay from Hank...LOL...catching this movie like you did one day over a year ago hooked me as a Strait fan.
I bought the movie, and watch it every now and then. I saw him in concert this past January for the first time. Truthfully, I don't think he would do a movie with that obvious of a plot, but I've heard him say in rare interviews that he would do another movie if the right script came along. He would make all of us fans on his CMT message board VERY happy.
