Some won, some lost, but the 2008 Teen Choice Awards—Premiering tonight, Monday, August 4th at 8PM ET/PT on FOX—is a must-see even. With Miley Cyrus hosting and performing “7 Things,” Mariah Carey singing “I’ll Be Loving You A Long Time,” and talent like the Jonas Brothers and David Cook appearing, how could anyone pass up a chance like this? There are tons of awards from Choice Comedian to TV Fresh Face. I predicted the winners last Wednesday on my radio show, but I won’t tell you how well I predicted.
Miley Cyrus puts her dancing skills to the test when her crew M&M (With Best Friend Mandy Jiroux) face off against the dance troop ACDC. The faceoff started out on the internet and is now ready to take it to the stage. Who will be the dance-off champion? Well, it’s up to the Teen Choice Awards live audience to decide. Fergie will judge the crowd’s loudness to pick the champion. I’ll tell you one thing though: it wasn’t who I thought was the best.
Real Jonas Brothers fans need to watch the show. The Jonas Brothers will be showing their signature dance moves and Joe Jonas will reveal his perfect date. Believe me, you would want to miss this answer. And what was their weirdest fan gift? Nick Jonas did some autograph signing on the commercial breaks. Plus, you’ll never guess how many awards these boys swept.
Kaycee Stroh make her way down the carpet in a beautiful blue dress (pictured) and even interviewed some of her fellow stars. Kaycee was a real sweetie and managed to talk to Blogcritics. “Well, I just finished my new song for DisneyMania called ‘My Strongest Suit.’ It’s about fashion. It was written by Elton John and it’s remake of a musical.”
My summer obsession is the new teen soap on ABC family The Secret Life of an American Teenager and it’s up for an award—Choice Summer TV Show. I can’t tell you if they won though! The show is about a pregnant teenager. Luke Zimmerman (Tom) said, “Be good. Be smart. Don’t get pregnant.” Francia Raisa (Adrian) said about the show’s impact, “I've received many emails. People saying that it really makes me think twice about having sex. It really hits home with viewers who were pregnant at 15 or had an abortion at 15.”
The set is very eco-friendly. Greg Finley—who plays Jack (Pictured next to Kenny. He's on the left)—said, “The Environment is something every teen needs to be aware.” Kenny Baumann (right)plays Ben and he assured me that all the wood is recycled. Shailene Woodley who stars as Amy said, “We are very ecofriendly. Brenda Hampton [Show’s creator] is very pro green/ The wardrobe is often made of hemp. We use bamboo instead of wood. We are slowly taking steps. It’s important to us.
Don’t forget to find out the results of the Do Something Award, $100,000 given to one teen with a serious cause. From educating kids about the environment to stopping smoking, one teen’s life will change. The contestants are pictured aside.
The Teen Choice Awards airs tonight. Tons of talent will be attending and presenting including James Marsden, Drake Bell, Vanessa Hudgens, Natasha Beningfield, Zac Efron, Selena Gomez, and many more. The most important thing is teens got a say on who won. Now it’s time to find out who 32 million teen voted for.
