Porn Star Reality Show Coming to Fox

America loves its porn — discreetly, of course — and America loves its reality shows — more voyeurism — so it was only a matter of time before they were melded into a Reese's cup of viewing goodness:

"I like to watch."

"I like to BE watched."

My Bare Lady, independently produced by UK company Zig Zag, will be shown on the Fox Reality channel in the fall. The show's cameras will follow four female porn stars as they study at a London drama school and try to land a role in a West End (insert pun) theater production in the traditional manner: talking, gesturing, emoting, moving around on the stage, and the like.

Zig Zag managing director Danny Fenton — whose production credits include DIY Surgery, When Football Managers Go Mad, and The Dark Side of Stage Hypnotismtold the Guardian that My Bare Lady — no relation to the 1989 porn musical or the 1963 nudist comedy of the same name — would be an "extreme fish out of water" exercise.

Fenton — no relation to the Nickelodeon cartoon star — is also trying to place the series in the UK and European markets.

Very interesting. I wonder what all will be covered. I would like to see some investigation into the psyche of a porn star. Issues that might relate such as abandonment, abuse. Then we could get into the drug issues. Then is there a porn star out there that is an honor student from Cambridge University who had an amazingly healthy upbringing?

Could be an interesting series if such issues are looked into.

I think it's just going to be following them around at their acting lessons and the auditions for plays. I'm not sure how penetrating insight there will be

Umm...Eric, that was an interesting Freudian slip, lol. Well, I'm disappointed. I also would like to see - well, not porn filming, but insights into what kind of person would do that kind of thing, how they feel about themselves, their backgrounds, etc.

Heh we had a show like that here on French TV called "Porn Académie" It was American Idol set in the porn world. Pretty insane.

Good shows to get insight on the porn industry

    • Family Business classic and hysterical account of the life of Seymour Butts, his mom and the brilliantly innept Cousin Stevie who all run the business together. This show is gold

    • Web Dreams about web based porn - shot mostly in Montreal and one of the subjects is the host of above mentionne Porn Académie and other porn actresses and they also follow on gay porn actor.

    I'm sure there are others.

    No prob.

Also some good docs on the industry.

The Girl Next Door A personal look at the life of Stacy Valentine, a small town girl who made it big as an adult film superstar.

Give Me Your Soul... Enter the strange world of commercial porn films, where voyeurism meets the profit motive to the tune of $8 billion a year. This film profiles a cast of characters in their pursuit of fame and fortune. From the casting couch to the shooting stage, from guarded secret to the world's first pornography conference, a complex human drama unfolds. The porn world may consider itself "family," offering protection and a sense of belonging, but as the film reveals, it is a dysfunctional and very dangerous one. A complex tableau of life inside the porn industry, Give Me Your Soul... reveals some of what is just outside the margin of our increasingly sexualized society.

Sex: The Annabelle Chong Story Gough Lewis' documentary tracks two years in the life of 22-year-old porn star Annabel Chong. Born Grace Quek to middle class Christian parents in Singapore, and educated at the University of Southern California, Chong describes herself as a taboo-busting feministâ€"a woman who loves sex and loves to sell her body. She catapults to porn notoriety with The World's Biggest Gang Bang, an event (and porn film) at which she sets a world record by having sex with 251 men in 10 hours. Though she claims her career choice was meant to make a statement about gender roles, it all takes on new meaning when tragic events from Chong’s past are revealed.

These are all shown on the UBER-PERFECT Documentary Channel. There was a doc on a young girl from Québec that went into the porn industry and everything went bad. But I couldn't find the title. By the end of the doc, the film makers couldn't find her, neither could her mother. Very sad and brutal.

If you can get documentary channel in the US I highly recommend it. For doc fans of course.

and then there's Boogie Nights, o course. I have a real hard time seeing the spunky liberation side of any of this. It's all really debased and depressing

    "Porn Star"

    "Reality Show"

    "Fox"

Damn, only 1 out of 3 of those phrases caught my interest.

For a while I thought Fox TV *was* Fox Reality. Come to think of it, their News channel could use a bit more of that.

As far as I can tell the show won't be about porn per se, but rather about the fish out of water antics of these "actresses" pursuing the "legitimate theater." Sort of like Simple Life in reverse

How much you want to bet there will be a pizza delivery guy who comes to the door of their house?
And oh just imagine the cheesy music?

So porn stars but without them being able to be naked due to FCC rules. What's the point?

Wouldn't that be like playing George Carlin's bit on the words you can't say on the radio and
then editing out all the words?

Re. #12. Actually, I think the only thing interesting about porn in any intellectual sense is the bizarre lifestyle of the stars and their efforts to maintain their humanity despite what they do for a living. That might make such a show interesting.

But the smart move would be to make it about what they actually do for a living and put it on Playboy with sex and all.
