What I really wanna know is, what kind of woman enters this industry? I mean, they are somebody's daughter. How sickening would it be to raise a daughter who ends up engaging in double-penetration films as her chosen career?
We know what kind of men pursue this life-course: Guys with humungous dicks who like a lot of sex with anonymous hot chicks. In other words, almost all men, except those who lack the requisite humungous dicks.
But the women: Why? Knowing that you will be stereotyped and ridiculed and belittled as a human being for your work. And knowing the health risks. And knowing your folks won't approve. And knowing that nothing less than a footlong Subway Meatball hoagie will satisfy you, forever more.
Why do women get into this industry? I am sincerely curious...

Let me scratch the surface of this post:
A. There are no benefits whatsoever to being a porn star
B. Should we not judge both the woman AND man who choose to star in such films? Why pick on the women? Is it not men degrading themselves as well?
C. Not all men with "humungous dicks" are seeking a life of endless sex with miles of nameless women. That is such a sterotype as to reveal a complete lack of understanding of anything even remotely resembling a relationship.
D. If this is satire, it has the cutting edge of a rusty sledgehammer.

I would agree that the real question is why anyone would get into it, although once begun money and security have the same allure regardless of profession (and that's probably most of the answer). Consider also that once one enters most any social cohort, the norms of the group can come to seem, uh, normal. And I am guessing the allure that RJ sees in it for men is at least partially a function of age.

Having had the experience of speaking with girls who do porn, I can conclude they do it for two reasons: (1) They love sex (it's possible that they could be addicted to it, but I'm no psychologist, so I can't determine that) and (2) There's no other profession that they believe they could possibly do and earn millions of dollars.
Many strip club dancers say the same thing about the money.
I think if the money wasn't there, the industry would simply dry up. The current AIDS scare may make it do that, anyway, though. Time will tell.
One thing is certainly clear, though: The people in this industry definitely need Jesus.

As for RJ's question as to why women participate in such films, perhaps desperation, sexual addiction, anger, a need to shock? Anyone who participates actively in porn will forever have a scarlet letter hung around their neck. Multiple female porn stars have tried to break out of the biz into regular show business - Tori Amos, Ginger Lynn - and have failed miserably. And yet, anyone who purchases porn is promoting an industry mostly made up of uneducated, extremely troubled people. Does such a stigma exist in Europe? Is porn even as prevalent over there as here? No doubt America is far more repressed than our European neighbors, so I would be curious about the attitudes across the sea to see how it compares to our own.
No parent wishes to see their child, male or female, make a living in the porn industry. I doubt seriously anyone makes millions except for the very producers who promote, market and release these films on a machine-like basis. Hardcore pornography is a drug and it is addictive and to enjoy this form of entertainment on a regular basis is to promote these addictions and this industry. I see little good coming out of it.
I have different opinions about written erotica, soft-core porn and topless dancing, though I am certain this is not what RJ is refering to when he mentions "footlong Subway Meatball hoagies."

I recenlty read a short bio of a 19 year old girl in the porn business. It kind of freaked me out. When ask if her parents knew what she did she replied, "yes infact both my mom and dad are very supportive". "They both watch porn and even gave me $10,000.00 to fly to California to get started". "My mom even said, you go shake your money maker girl". That is whacked. Of course there isn't the secret shame and stigma as once before. Women have their choices and decisions as never before.
There is a porn star by the screen name Inari Vachs who left a six figure job with a Fortune-500 company to pursue porn.

I am going to put together a post on porn with a little more investigation than RJ's epic work. If we are going to discuss porn appropriately, then we should have a few answers.....I have seen several posts on porn in here I have disagreed with. Ms. Tek has made some good points in some areas and we all had a long argument about this before....
