Noggin and The-N Split Into Two Networks, Loaded With New Shows

In the summer, what really bugged me was that Noggin would cut off Degrassi at 3AM and put on Franklin. No offense to Franklin, but the last thing a sixteen-year-old wired on cola and sugar wants to watch at 3AM is Franklin. So, to kick off '08, Noggin (the preschool channel) and The-N (the teenage channel) part ways and split into two stations, packed with new shows.

Those kiddies are lucky. Noggin is not only twenty-four hours, but it also commercial free. That's a lot of Pinky Dinky Doo! It all starts on December 31 at 6PM with a marathon hosted by Moose and Zee (I believe one is an owl and the other is a moose, but I'm not entirely sure — I'm not really in the target age group). Then, there is the premiere of the new Franklin movie, Franklin and the Turtle Lake Treasure. After that, Noggin will show Dora and the Mermaids , a movie based on the popular show, Dora the Explorer. Preschoolers then experience even more Dora and the show Go, Diego, Go!

When I was little, I always watching Franklin. I'm actually quite surprised they still make it. I had the books, too. Other than Dr. Seuss, that's all I would read. Anyway, in the movie, Franklin has no school due to holidays and his aunt pays him a visit. Franklin's grandma tells him all about her childhood, and tells him about about her box of treasures she buried by Turtle Lake. Like any of us, Franklin is determined to find it. This movie will cover Franklin's journey to find the hidden treasure. He has help from his friends, of course, like Beaver and Bear. His aunt and her goddaughter, Samantha, also join him, leaving Franklin less than pleased to deal with the impossible Samantha. Should be 90 minutes of fun.

With 12 more hours of TV a day, Noggin has obtained new material. They ordered 26 episodes of Toot & Puddle, based on the children books by author and illustrator Holly Hobbie. This is currently expected to air in fall 2008. The second season of Pinky Dinky Doo! was ordered. This show's goal is to help children learn to read at a young age.

Other shows in the 2008 line-up include: Jack’s Big Music Show, Oobi, The Upside Down Show, Little Bill, Franklin, Max & Ruby, Little Bear, Pinky Dinky Doo, Wow! Wow! Wubbzy!, Dora the Explorer, Go, Diego, Go!, The Wonder Pets!, Blue’s Clues and The Backyardigans.

The Assistants is not a reality show; it's a comedy show from the creators of The Adventures of Pete and Pete and is produced by the Tom Lynch Company. They didn't mention The Best Years because they just canceled the show a couple of weeks ago (Charity Shea has confirmed this on her myspace) and Beyond the Break does have 14 new episodes produced but The N might choose not to air it!
