In any case, his next film has a release date, so the countdown can now begin. Basterds is set during World War II. It deals with a group of Jewish soldiers staging acts of retribution against the Third Reich and their path eventually crossing with a woman who runs a movie theater.
This is one of those movies that I plan on avoiding reading much of the spoiler-type information about. I look forward to watching it unfold in its full glory before me. I hope to not be disappointed.
Tarantino has collected a cast that includes Brad Pitt, Diane Kruger, Eli Roth, Samm Levine, B.J. Novak, Samuel L. Jackson. Mike Myers, Cloris Leachman, Maggie Cheung, and someone with the great name of Omar Doom.
I wonder if the date will hold as it seems to be an odd time to release a film that is sure to be highly anticipated. I suspect it may get pushed back a bit in order to garner more Oscar consideration.
In any case, I am really looking forward to it.
Bollywood to Remake Back to the Future
Yes, it is true. Bollywood is mounting a new, albeit unofficial, version of Robert Zemeckis' classic 1985 film Back to the Future. It does not appear to be a by the book, faithful take, but it also does not hide what its source material. The new film is to be called Action Replay, so reports Real Bollywood.com.
The main leads have been cast and 41-year-old Akshay Kumar will be stepping into Michael J. Fox's shoes, while Aishwarya Rai (Bride and Prejudice) will be taking on the Lea Thompson role.
This goes to show that it is not only Hollywood that remakes films from other countries. Other recent instances of this sort of thing include Japan producing a remake of Sideways and another Japanese production remaking a Korean film called The Quiet Family.
I wonder if this particular remake will contain song and dance numbers. I have to say, that would be absolutely fascinating.
