New Trailer Released For Lionsgate's Season Of The Witch

Season of the Witch may be most familiar to many of us as a rather wonderful Donovan song from the '60s (and featured on the television show House in “Words and Deeds”) or the title of Halloween III, but it’s also a new supernatural thriller from Lionsgate, opening on March 19, 2010. The official synopsis of the movie is now available.

Season Of The Witch is a supernatural thriller starring Nicolas Cage as a medieval knight called Behman, who must deliver a witch either from or to evil, as he is pitted against an ancient wickedness. Behman returns from the Crusades no longer sure of his beliefs and is horrified to find Europe laid waste by the Black Plague. Searching for food and supplies, the knight and his trusted friend, Felson (Ron Perlman), run afoul of a dying Cardinal, who orders them to bring a young girl (Claire Foy,) thought to be the witch responsible for spreading the plague, to a remote abbey. There, monks will destroy her power through rituals. Behman agrees to take on the task, but he is concerned that the girl be given a fair trial. However, as he and five companions set off for the abbey, they slowly realise their prisoner is not an ordinary human and they must face an unimaginable evil in order to accomplish that staple of horror thrillers: saving the world.

Season of the Witch stars Nicolas Cage (National Treasure, Ghost Rider), Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Hellboy II: The Golden Army), Stephen Campbell Moore (The Bank Job, History Boys), Robert Sheehan (Chery Bomb), and Claire Foy (Little Dorrit). Dominic Sena (Gone In Sixty Seconds, Swordfish) directs from Bragi Schut Jr.’s script. Ulrich Thomsen (Duplicity), Stephen Graham (Inkheart) and Christopher Lee (Lord of the Rings, Alice In Wonderland) also star. Cage and Sena last worked together in the 2000 action film remake, Gone In Sixty Seconds.

Have you ever just want to sit in a meeting with Nicholas Cage and his agent? Some of the stuff he does is just so freaking out there, it'd be interesting to see what he turns down.

He's got eclectic taste, that's for sure! He's usually watchable no matter what, fortunately. This one could be interesting. Lots of interest in supernatural themes right now.
