For whatever reason, many teenagers are fascinated by the world of Hollywood. Next year TeenNick, formerly The-N, will air Reville's new series, Gigantic, which follows Hollywood “it” kids as they go about their crazy, nowhere close to ordinary lives.
The show stars Grace Gummer and Gia Mantegna. Gummer plays a 17-year-old girl, Anna, daughter of a famous movie star couple. Mantegna plays Gummers’ friend/enemy “frienemy.” Mantegna has guest starred on shows like Medium, Criminal Minds and The Secret Life of the American Teenager.
Also on the show is Anna’s friend, Piper, portrayed by Jolene Purdy, who played Mandella on ABC Family’s 10 Things I Hate About You. Anna’s brother is played by Tony Oller, who is well-known for Disney’s As The Bell Rings. Piper’s crush, Joey, is played by Ryan Rottman.
This is the first series from the new company, Grady Twins, run by Marti Noxon and Dawn Parouse Olmstead. Noxon is known for hits such as Mad Men, Grey Anatomy, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Olmstead is known for Dawn Parouse Olmstead’s Prison Break, Saturday Night Live, and Tru Calling. The Grady Twins founders also worked on Point Pleasant together. Other producers include Reville's Carolyn Bernstein and Todd Cohen.
TeenNick is well-known for Degrassi: The Next Generation, a teen drama filmed in Canada. TeenNick also shows reruns of favorites like That '70s Show and What I Like About You.
“Our audience loves celebrity and pop culture and Gigantic gives them a unique, relatable teen perspective on a world they rarely get to see,” Marjorie Cohn, a powerful voice at Nickelodeon, commented.
Gigantic, TeenNick’s first original scripted show, will have 20 episodes and will be available in over 66 million households early next year.
