New Movies and Box Office Predictions: Featuring Running Scared

Welcome to the final weekend in February. The last of the castoffs are about to be unleashed, as we get ready for March where we get a few more leftovers, but more importantly, we start getting films of more quality. Here is a brief look at what is coming our way this weekend, and potential box office positions. Enjoy!

Doogal. The latest entry in the family film arena looks to have the chance to be a delightful outing. The trailers make it look like a kiddie sized version of Lord of the Rings. A fellowship of four must seek out three magical diamonds before an evil wizard can get his hands on them and freeze the planet. It features the voice talent of Jon Stewart, Jimmy Fallon, William H. Macy, and Whoopi Goldberg. TRAILER

Running Scared. This looks like it could be interesting, the trailers look good, but it could end up being a disappointment like Freedomland. It does have Paul Walker in it, which isn't exactly a plus. It is the story of a guy who has to hide a gun that was used in the murder of a dirty cop. He does that, until it gets stolen, now time is running out in order for him to find it. TRAILER

Tyler Perry's Medea's Family Reunion. Tyler Perry plays multiple roles in this comedy featuring him as Madea. The matriarch of a southern family tries to keep everyone in line in this comedy. I am sorry, but I have no interest in seeing this. TRAILER

The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada. This has been getting great notice everywhere it has played, including winning two awards at Cannes. It was directed by star Tommy Lee Jones, and written by 21 Grams scribe Guillermo Arriaga. It is the story of a rancher and his illegal immigrant worker who is murdered. I am not the biggest fan of westerns, but this is one I hope to see. TRAILER
