This week continues the slow weeks leading up to the highly anticipated release of Watchmen. I can barely wait to see that movie on a gigantic IMAX screen. However, I do need to tide myself over until next week, and I think this weekend has enough to offer to at least temporary cinematic nourishment.
Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience. (2009, 76 minutes, G, music) No thank you. I have no interest in seeing this. Of course, I am not anywhere near the target demographic. Still, I have no doubt that this is going to rake in big money this weekend, much like the Hannah Montana concert movie did. I have long since made peace with the need for this type of music, just don't expect me to like it. This film also happens to be stealing the 3D projectors from the excellent Coraline.
Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun Li. (2009, 96 minutes, PG-13, action, trailer) I want to see this, although I cannot imagine it being any good. I do not believe this video game adaptation is meant to be related the Jean Claude Van Damme film from the early 1990's. This new film focuses on Chun Li (Smallville's Kristen Kreuk) and her battle with crime lord Bison (Michael McDonough). I will say one thing, it looks better than the Dragonball: Evolution trailer. The cast also includes Chris Klein, Michael Clarke Duncan, Robin Shou, and Moon Bloodgood. The directorial duties were handled by Andrzej Bartkowiak, the man behind a trio of goofy action films (Romeo Must Die, Cradle 2 the Grave, and Exit Wounds)
