The arthouse, Upstate Films, is also having two films for only a couple of shows in the middle of next week:
Brothers Lost. This was made by Sean McGinley who lost his brother on 9/11. It collects a series of interviews with other men who lost their brothers that day. I tried searching for it, but I could not find any more information. This will have two screenings, one on Tuesday and one on Wednesday.
A Sidewalk Astronomer. (2005, 79 minutes, NR, documentary, trailer) This will be playing for one night, and have a special guest in the person of director Jeffrey Jacobs. The film focuses on John Dobson, a former Vedanta monk who developed a high power, low cost telescope. This telescope opened the universe to everybody. As another bonus, if the weather is good, there will be a telescope on hand to look through after the screening.
Also opening this week, but not near me:
- Edmond
- Once in a Lifetime
- A Scanner Darkly
