You can tell that summer is stating to wind down, when you start getting Rob Schneider movies, which will probably be near the top of the box office for the weekend when all is said and done. To make it worse, it is a sequel to a Schneider movie. If you couldn't tell, I am not much of a fan of his. We also get another PG-13 horror/suspense film, and finally one tha may actually be good.
Deuce Bigelow: European Gigolo. Schneider's Gigolo character is resurrected and sent to Europe to get into wacky hijinks. No thanks.
Four Brothers. Director John Singleton follows up the decidedly lackluster 2 Fast 2 Furious with this gritty looking revenge film. I actually like what I have seen in the trailer, I like the concept of this multi-racial, extended, adopted family, and how they set out to exact revenge for the murder of their adoptive mother. The stars include Mark Wahlberg, Tyrese Gibson, and Andre Benjamin. This one I am looking forward to.
The Skeleton Key. Voodoo chants and mysticism abound in this Kate Hudson starring thriller. It centers on Hudson, who is helping with an invalid in New Orleans when she gets caught up in the voodoo. I doubt this will be any good, and is likely to get savaged by the critics. I may give it a shot. It was directed by Iain Softley, who last directed K-PAX, and written by Ehren Kruger, who has a decidedly mixed resume containing the likes of The Ring 2 and Arlington Road.
The Aristocrats. A documentary that wasn't meant to be is opening at the local arthouse. This looks to be a vulgarity laced look at the vastly different ways various comedians can improv the dirtiest joke in the world. I have heard good about this and am eager to see it for myself.
