Network Reality Stars Actually Entertain!

Battle of the Network Reality Stars is not masterpiece television. In fact, it's nowhere close. It's one of those shows that you wouldn't expect to stay on for very long, but since its initial series run is only six weeks long, I guess we won't really have to worry about that. The most surprising part about this show though is that, even though it's silly and ridiculous, it's also funny.

Bravo's new reality series, which is a re-tooling of the old show Battle of the Network Stars, is pitting tons of new and classic stars from some of television's best and most humiliating reality shows in a competition-based game show, all of whom are taking part in some physical and aggressive challenges that will be very familiar for fans of the original series.

Taking part in the show, from a total of sixteen different reality shows across the board, is Adam Mesh and Brian Worth from Average Joe; Bradford Cohen, Chris Russo and Heidi Bressler from The Apprentice; Brittany Brower from America's Next Top Model; Burton Roberts, Gervase Peterson, Richard Hatch and Sue Hawk from Survivor; Charla Faddoul, Chip & Kim McAllister, Jonathan Baker, Mirna Hindoyan and Victoria Fuller from The Amazing Race; Coral Smith, Melissa Howard and Mike "The Miz" Mizanin from The Real World; Duncan Nutter from Show Biz Moms & Dads; Evan Marriott from Joe Millionaire; Matt Gould from Joe Schmo; Mike Malin, Will Kirby and Will Wikle from Big Brother; Nikki McKibbin and Ryan Starr from American Idol; Rachel Love Fraser from The Swan; Theo Vonkurnatowski from Road Rules; Tina "Fabulous" Panas from The Bachelor; Valerie Penso from Temptation Island; and Wendy Pepper from Project Runway. Trishelle Canatella from The Real World, Omarosa Manginault-Stallworth from The Apprentice and Bob Guiney from The Bachelor serve as additional reporters on the show as well.

The first episode of this limited run Bravo series introduces us to these diverse contestants from an even more diverse range of television shows. We also see them split into different teams, with Coral, The Miz, Gervase and Chip serving as team captains for the Red, Dark Blue, Light Blue and Green teams, respectively. Afterwards, the four teams are required to compete against one another in a race through an obstacle course, a dip into a dunk tank, and then a joust against each other on a raised platform over a pool of water. Towards the end of the episode, the teams are informed that three of the four teams (the exception being the one that pulled out ahead of the pack in the aforementioned competitions) has to eliminate one team member to be sent home. In a surprise twist, however, the team members who got their hearts broken are instead given a second chance. Instead of being sent home, the eliminated contestants actually end up getting swapped to different teams for the remainder of the competition. The promotion for next week tentatively states that the first real elimination ceremony will be a part of the next episode.
