I have been cheering all the new internet channels out there, but as I've said before that only solves one part of the equation. The hardware and software must continue to advance or the whole thing risks turning into a huge bottleneck. Well, MyTinyTV is offering an alternate solution. MyTinyTV is a great little program that allows users to watch TV feeds from their home cable connection, satellite service or antenna through a wireless network or the internet.
There were two major stumbling blocks that with the new version release have been solved. Previously, there were issues about it being overly complicated and that it only worked with Pocket PC's. Pocket PC's are basically any handheld that can run Microsoft's Windows CE operating system. The new version claims to be adaptable to any laptop or desktop (I assume Windows OS) and is easy to use.
"Take your home TV with all its channels on the road and watch TV anywhere you have Internet access," says Mike van der Meulen of Softel vdm, Inc. "Bored standing in line at the post office? Fire up your Pocket PC and watch news, shows, movies — anything that you could be watching at home!"The system includes an interface for the user's PCs with channel selection, complete program guide and the ability to get detailed movie and show descriptions. Numerous little tidbits have been added that make the product even easier to use, such as automatic speed adaptation, full VGA support (640 x 480), selectable input source (SVideo, Composite), much faster TV listings browsing, support for third party Pocket PC player and of course support for more TV tuners.
Softel vdm is offering free, fully functional seven-day demo downloads of the product. During this trial period, people can discover new ways and places to enjoy TV.

The current price is around $60. If you're on the road a lot this might be a great product for you. There has been a lot of advances in this market as well. So, check it out for free and see what you think. I'd appreciate swapping info about the trial, if anyone out there has tried this. And if you're more technically inclined than I am check out the developer at Softel vdm.
