[I wrote this last night, seconds after I walked in the door after returning from the theater. I never even proofread or edited it, because I wanted to convey the pure enthusiasm I was feeling. It's not so much a review as a few paragraphs os me gushing like the Star Wars geek I am]
So. Where to begin? I'm kind of giddy right now and waaay overtired and I'm just going to ramble on, hit save and go to bed without editing or proofreading anything.
First, this: I am not going to sit here and pick out the flaws and bitch about continuity. And yea, the dialogue was mostly horrid, but I knew that going in. I expected no less. The acting? I don't think Hayden Christensen is going to win any Academy Awards in his lifetime. But that Yoda? What an actor!
***Spoilers and embarassing geekiness below.****
I went into this movie expecting several things. Mostly, though, I wanted a line to be drawn from A to B, A being Anakin Skywalker and B being Darth Vader. And I got it.
I'm trying to not fangirl gush here. I'm holding it in.
Oh, what the hell. I loved it. Absolutely loved it. It was everything I expected and more important, everything I wanted. It was exciting and dramatic and emotional and dark.
Do you want to know how much of a geek I am? I can't believe I am going to admit this here. When the opening scroll started and the music began I actually teared up. I swear to you, there were tears in my eyes and I almost, nearly started crying. And I'm not the only one. There was a palpable sense of relief in the theater when the scroll came up. Like everyone sighed at once. Finally, our questions answered. The closure. The scroll and the music is the beginning of the end, and it's very bittersweet because you know that once the movie starts, you're on your way to it being over. Not just the movie being over, but the whole Star Wars saga that you spent 28 years of your life thinking about and talking about is over.

Tell me
1.) Did you love the part where Padme dies, thus making Leia's line about REAL mother either senseless or the at very least altered?
2.) Did love the part where Obi-Wan held both baby Luke abd baby Leia, but in Episode 5 he says "That boy is our last hope?" After the events of episode 3, how the hell does Obi-Wan FORGET about Leia?????
Did you love how Episode 3 took liberties with the original trilogy? Do you love these inconsistencies?
Damn Lucas.

About Leia remembering Padme...
she IS a Skywalker you know, the force is strong in their family.
In Episode V, Obi Wan can probably sense that it WILL be Luke that makes Anakin finally bring balance to the force.
I LOVED Episode III. I am going to go see it again in a few minutes.
The biggest thing I was interested in seeing was to see Palpatine fight for the first time. Against four of the most respected sword-master >>MASTER<< Jedi Council members. I don't know if Lucas was trying to convey a Slow Motion effect or what, but it looked like Agen Kolar and Saessee Tiin practically stood there while Palps AWKWARDLY killed them. And then it looked like Kit Fisto was just "in the way" for the five seconds it took for him to go down. I thought that scene would be much more impressive than it was. Maybe I just had my hopes up, but compared to the other duels in the movie, it just didn't deliver.
Finally, I thought about the Mace/Palps fight immediately following and expected a much faster/furious fight, but it was slow like the Episode IV Kenobi/Vader old man fight. Instead of complaining I will offer my best explanation in its defense and would love to hear opinions in response. Palps knew that Mace's lightsaber form (7th form: Vaapaad) consisted of unpredictable long sweeping movements that are hard to defend against and therefore was more cautious than the lightning fast duel with Yoda, who uses the swift acrobatic form four. Maybe I just over analyze. Thank's for reading.

"In Episode V, Obi Wan can probably sense that it WILL be Luke that makes Anakin finally bring balance to the force. "
If that were the case, then Yoda would never had replied to Obi-Wan:
"No, there is another."

Good Point. I guess you can't explain everything. ;)
Regarding Leia's memory:
I just saw it again and Maybe she was just remembering Bail's Wife before SHE died. Or she remembers Padme at the birth.?! (The Force)
Either way, I really enjoyed the movie. Yoda is the MAN!
Obi Wan is STILL my Favorite.

Yes, Yoda basically says, "Hey, idiot. Did you forget about Luke's sister?"
However, the exchange doesn't indicate he forgot about her EXISTENCE... just that he didn't think she was any kind of hope. Either:
A) He was so focused on Luke that he really didn't think of Leia;
B) He was in the middle of a present crisis... remember how long it took Luke to train as a Jedi? Even if he thought of Leia, it would be too late to train her, even if she had displayed talent (which she hadn't to that point); or
C) He was a sexist pig who didn't think girls should be sword-fightin' Jedi Knights. :)

I am thinking a combination of A and B. Leia really HADN'T shown a lot of Force sensitivity other than the ability to unwittingly kiss her brother and apparently remember her own birth. I doubt Obi Wan was a sexist though. I think girls make great Jedi Masters. Like Shaak Ti, Luminara Unduli, Aayla Secura, Bariss Offee; all of which survied the odds at Geonosis in Episode II AND the length of the Clone Wars. Although Aalya Secura and Shaak Ti ALMOST bit the big one fighting Gen Grievous, who apparently had Bronchitus during ROTS.

I just remembered. Grievous was injured by Mace Windu while kidnapping Palpatine on the surface of Coruscant in Episode 25 (the last one)of the Clone Wars cartoon series leading up to the beginning of Episode III. THAT is why he is coughing so bad throughout the movie. That HAS to be it. He wasn't coughing at all in Clone Wars 19(first appearance)through 25.

I wondered why Leia remembered Padme and Luke didn't. I have a feeling that Mr. and Mrs. Organa told Leia about her real mom a lot while Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru were so concerned that Anakin would find out about Luke that they said absolutely nothing, AND refused to let Old Ben Kenobi come around to visit.
