The next awards show is upon us. Bigger than the Oscars, more important than the Nobel Prize, it’s the 2006 MTV Movie Awards. Okay, so it may not be as important as they want you to think but it is a lot of fun and has a large online presence. This year's MTV Movie Awards are on June 8th and will include huge amounts of interactive video on both MTV.com and MTV Overdrive.
The multiplatform coverage includes video, interactive polls, and mobile coverage. 
According to InteractiveTV Today,
Immediately after the Awards' linear broadcast, viewers will be able, via the "hub" site, to access an interactive broadband video service called "My Movie Awards," on MTV Overdrive: the service will present the Awards show in "bite-size" on-demand segments, allowing viewers to create a personalized highlight reel or "remix" of the show (or simply watch the segments that interest them on-demand), which they will be able to save and forward to their friends.Viewers will also be able to access online-exclusive footage, including backstage diaries from celebrities featured on the Awards, coverage of red-carpet fashions, and interviews with winners (note: viewers will also be able to incorporate this ancillary footage into their custom highlight reels). "Watch the show in its entirety, or mix and customize your favorite moments, 'My Movie Awards' is unlimited access for fans to experience the show exactly as they demand it," MTV president, Christina Norman, said in a prepared statement.
In preparation for the show, both MTV.com and MTV Overdrive have posted photos and video of the 2005 Awards show. They are also showing movie clips of this year’s nominees and music videos of this year’s scheduled performers.
The push of mobile offerings is very strong this year. MTV.com's "Mobile Boutique" gives users the chance to purchase ringtones from the movie soundtracks, access special insider news from the Awards and purchase Movie Awards wallpaper for your mobile device.
MTV knows its customers are connected and is giving them what they want.
