Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, much like its predecessor, is the perfect summer blockbuster. It has non-stop action, romance mostly between Sam (Shia LaBeouf) and Mikaela (Megan Fox), and it also has humor sprinkled throughout. Although not intended as a Hangover-type of gut-busting comedy, writers Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci (who penned the first Transformers and the recent hit Star Trek) along with newcomer to the franchise Ehren Kruger, penned some comedic scenes and lines that instill a loose side to the action-packed display.

Two years have passed since we first saw these intergalactic robots. Now the Autobots have teamed up with the humans to hunt and kill the remaining Decepticons hiding on the planet. Meanwhile, Sam is at home with his parents getting ready to head east for college, leaving Mikaela behind. Once at college Sam meets his roommate Leo (Ramon Rodriguez), who happens to be an alien conspiracy theorist. Sam also has to fend off Alice, a new girl from school who seems to want him a little too much.

Soon, Sam starts seeing ancient Cybertronian text. At one point Sam even interrupts his new astronomy professor, played by Rainn Wilson, and frantically starts writing the text on the chalkboard. Mikaela then comes to Sam’s school to help him figure what the text means. Upon arrival, Mikaela walks in on Sam and Alice. Not to worry, folks, Sam isn’t in trouble — Alice turns out to be a Decepticon who has been sent to retrieve a piece of the “All Spark” that Sam has and to map his brain to find the location of something else. This starts the globetrotting adventure, where Sam, Mikaela, and his new roommate Leo are running away from the Decepticons and trying to figure out what they want. Luckily these three have the Autobots and the U.S. military on their side.
