The film comes courtesy of director Florian Henckel von Dommersmarck, writer and director of the 2007 Best Foreign Language Film winner The Lives of Others. He easily could have continued down that ultra-serious road with his next film but hats off to him for taking such an abrupt 180 turn and making something as light as this. At least he's flexed his glossy, sleek, star-studded muscles.
In the end, though, The Tourist is certainly not the worst film in the world or even the worst either Jolie or Depp have ever done (contrary to some other, harsher, reviews out there). It's enjoyable enough, throwaway entertainment that ticks enough of the right boxes to equal a decent times at the movies. But look past the surface, even taking a little peek, and the faults start to show. Maybe it's best not to.

I saw the movie yesterday and I loved it! Johnny Depp was adorable and very believable as a midwestern Math teacher. The chemistry between Jolie and Depp was great and the twist at the end was very unexpected and wildly enjoyable. The people I went with were expecting more action and were disappointed because of that, but I loved the fact that it wasn't 2 hours of bang, bang, boom, boom. It reminded me of Alfred HItchock's films. My only criticism if of Angelina Jolie. That young lady needs to eat!!!

The plot is unpredictable. My mom can predict it precisely, but I don't believe it. In the end, it's perfectly match with my mom's deduction.
