Movie Review: Re-Animator - Page 3

Doing parts, however, turns out to be a bad idea, as Dr. Hill controls his headless body to whack West unconscious. Both Hill's head and his body head back to his office, and the bipartisan doctor uses his head (in a manner of speaking) to command Dean Halsey to do his bidding, like some dead but reanimated Renfield.

Dr. Hill's head (stay with me on this) heads to the morgue while Dean Halsey heads to get his daughter, who Dr. Hill has a fancy for. Meg is brought back to the morgue, where Dr. Hill has her stripped au naturale, and proceeds to give her head with his head, aided by his headless body, of course. West walks in on them, chides Dr. Hill for not using his head purely for science, and soon discovers that the cadavers in the room are under Dr. Hill's control. All hell once again breaks loose, as cadavers in various states of morbidity attack West and Cain.

Dean Halsey, vaguely realizing his daughter is in danger, goes after Dr. Hill and grabs his head between his hands (er, that's Dr. Hill's head between Dean Halsey's hands), and squeezes it like a really big grape. Meanwhile, West, fending off the cadavers, heads over to Dr. Hill's headless body and injects it with two syringes full of reanimation serum. Faster than you can say hellz-a-poppin', the body explodes in a geyser of entrails and assorted organs. An eerie white light blasts forth from the now exploded chest cavity, and a very large, large intestine snakes out and around West, pinning him to the floor in a Lovecraftian-esque tour-de-force. Cain and Meg manage to escape the room, leaving West to his fate, but Meg is killed by a relentless cadaver as they head for the elevator.

Can you guess where this is going? Right! Cain, rushes Meg to the emergency room, but when all else fails, he injects her with the reanimation serum. Tsk, tsk, they never learn, do they?

Re-Animator is definitely one of the top fright flicks of all time, and required viewing for any horror-head seriously involved with the genre. And as for Herbert West? You will have to see the sequel to find out.

Ah, Re-Animator. One of the finest. If you see it on film (like at a revival theatre), there are a whole bunch of scenes where you can see the boom mike at the top of the screen. Classic.

Tis indeed an excellent film - good fun, as are the inferior sequels. Although I must admit that I actually prefer From Beyond, which I consider the best of Gordon's Lovecraft flicks.

I can hardly wait for From Beyond to get the DVD treatment, especially since they found the cut footage with Combs having a field day with that p gland sort of thing sticking out of his head.

The uncut version was to run on the Horror Channel, but I don't get that. Damn.

I watch this movie on mvtv few days ago.But the channel shows a fool like activities. they made the scene of something scrached/fade by editing. for example - they showd whisky bottle by fading, nude scene alo. but it was still perceptable that what is going on.
if they think its harmful, then why u telecast it?otherwise use non-cut/edited version of the film.
