As somebody who has always been fascinated by the idea of an immortal man, I love the original Highlander film with Christopher Lambert (indeed, it makes my top-five list), in which an immortal named Connor MacLeod must fight the perfect warrior for the unknown 'Prize'. Since Highlander: The Source doesn't have anything to do with the original (Connor is quite dead by now), I feel that I can comfortably avoid any accusations of bias towards it.
The premise of the film is that Duncan MacLeod (relation to Connor MacLeod of the clan MacLeod) and a bunch of immortals who can only die by decapitation have decided to search for the source of immortality, to find out where they all came from and to see if they can make the world better after it's undergone some kind of apocalyptic remodelling. Stopping them is The Guardian, a villain who seems to be intended to be a game breaker for immortals. He's faster than them and the closer they get to their objective, their immortality slips away as well. I would also like to point out that he looks like a pimp version of Robocop crossed with a member of the Borg Collective. All seems lost for our heroes, three of whom we have never seen before (which makes it hard to root for them, really).
I never really caught the television series that most of the characters came from in the first place (we don't get it here in Britain, as far as I'm aware) but I've seen Highlander: Endgame, which was the previous film in the franchise. And frankly, the only way in which this is superior to Endgame is that it never repeated shots to bulk up a fight scene. The thing is, Endgame did that briefly while The Source was terrible for the entire movie.
There was only one remotely redeeming feature of the entire 99 minutes, and that was the last words of an extremely Cockney immortal called Reggie (played by Stephen Wight, whose small Wikipedia page hilariously doesn't even mention this movie), "I fuckin' hate this bit!" People new to the concept of Highlander are advised to watch the first one rather than start here (because if you start here you will finish here), with the awesome villain, the presence of Sean Connery, and the music by Queen. They are also advised to stop at that one.
