Movie Media: Speed Racer, Charlie Bartlett, Definitely Maybe, Meet the Spartans, Untraceable, The Poughkeepsie Tapes

Part of: Movie Media

Welcome to the Movie Media column featuring trailers, posters, and clips for upcoming films. Some are nice and fresh, and some aren't. However, they all have something in common: for better or worse they all caught my attention. If there is a poster or trailer you think I should check out, be sure to let me know.

This week's movie goodies include trailers and posters for a new cartoon adaptation, a docu-horror flick, a cyber-thriller, an awful looking spoof, a potentially decent romcom, and more!

Speed Racer - Poster, Trailer
I never was a big fan of the Speed Racer cartoon. Sure, I watched it from time to time, but I never developed any real love for it. All that aside, the character is making the jump to the big screen, courtesy of the Wachowski Brothers (The Matrix trilogy). It looks really kind of weird and trippy. I'm looking forward to seeing how the tale plays out. The cast includes Emile Hirsch in the title role, Christina Ricci, John Goodman, Matthew Fox, and Susan Sarandon.

Charlie Bartlett - Poster, Trailer

You know, this movie stirs up little to nothing in terms of excitement. When I watch the trailer, all I see is the neighbor to the kid in Running With Scissors. The movie tells the story of a rich kid that is kicked out of private school and must go to a public school where he decides to help those being ignored by the system by becoming their advice giver and drug provider. It is only interesting to me in that it stars the guy who is set to play Chekhov in the new Star Trek film (Anton Yelchin).

Definitely, Maybe - Poster, Trailer

Ryan Reynolds tries his hand at the romantic comedy with Definitely, Maybe. And you know what? It doesn't look half bad, no matter how lame the poster appears. Reynolds is a single father, raising Abigail Breslin. She does not know who her mother is. In order to find out, she gets daddy to tell stories of his serious relationships and she tries to figure it out. It looks kind of sweet, definitely date movie material. Joining Reynolds and Breslin are Elizabeth Banks, Isla Fisher, and Rachel Weisz.
