Welcome to the Movie Media column for trailers, posters, and clips for upcoming films. Some are nice and fresh, and some aren't. However, they all have something in common: they caught my attention, for better or worse. If there is a poster or trailer you think I should check out, be sure to let me know.
This week's movie goodies include media for another television to movie conversion, a television series spin-off from a movie franchise, a romantic adventure, a sure-fire animated hit, a new heist film, and more!
Get Smart - Poster, Trailer
Maxwell Smart is coming to the big screen, but not until next June. Yes, another TV-to-big screen adaptation. I know how much all of you must love them. Now they are not all bad, we just seem to remember the bad ones more often than not. That said, Steve Carell is playing the lead and who else could you go to? He is, on paper anyway, perfect for this role, and the teaser trailer seems to support that fact. I am looking forward to seeing the full trailer. There is also a teaser poster out, and I cannot say that it impresses me all that much. It hasn't dulled my anticipation, but still... Joining Carell are Anne Hathaway, Dwayne Johnson, and Alan Arkin. Peter Segal is helming the feature, his first since 2005's The Longest Yard remake.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles - Poster, Trailer
Whoever knew that the Terminator franchise would be inspiring spin-offs this long after its first appearance on the big screen? So far we have had three movies, video games, and comic books (including crossovers with other franchises like RoboCop). Now we are getting the first television series. It takes place after T2: Judgment Day, with Sarah protecting her son, John, while teaching him to be the leader of the future resistance. It is getting a two night debut from Fox on January 13 and 14. To promote the debut, Fox has released four posters that look pretty cool. There is also a trailer that came out awhile back. I am looking forward to checking this out.
