Movie Media: Avenged Sevenfold, Watchmen, Repo! The Genetic Opera, Funny Games, One Missed Call, Midnight Meat Train, National Treasure: Book of Secrets, The Mist, Postal

Part of: Movie Media

Welcome to the Movie Media column - trailers, posters, and clips for upcoming films. Some are nice and fresh, some aren't. However, they all have something in common - they caught my attention, for better or worse. If there is a poster or trailer you think I should check out, be sure to let me know, and I will see what I can do.

This week kicks off with a non-movie entry, the video for the first single off Avenged Sevenfold's upcoming album. After that we get to the movie stuff, including posters for a pair of upcoming horror films, a video from the set of Watchmen, a look at the new Uwe Boll "masterpiece," an English language horror debut, and an adventurous sequel with ties to Lincoln, and a horror opera (no, not Sweeney Todd, but be sure to stop back next week!). All that and more!

Avenged Sevenfold - "Almost Easy"

At the end of the month Avenged Sevenfold will follow up to their hit major label debut City of Evil with a self-titled album that will be hidden by a simple white cover emblazoned with their skull and bat wings logo. Before that arrives, the band is giving us a taste of what to expect. I have say that I like what I hear. It is definitely not like the material on their first two albums, and while it is along the lines of City of Evil, it still has a fresh feeling to it. This band has a high energy sound that has lots of technical skill to show. The two songs that are out are catchy and definitely infectious. Below you will see the video for the first single "Almost Easy." Plus, if you head over to their MySpace page you can listen to "Critical Acclaim." The new album lands October 30.

Watchmen - Poster, Video Blog

It's not coming until March of 2009, but Watchmen is in production. Filming has begun. Warner Brothers has released a video with director Zack Snyder. In it he talks about the first week of shooting and hoping it will be cool. Actually, he talks about a whole lot of nothing. Still, it is proof it is getting made! Here it is, along with the poster used at Comic-Con.

Repo! The Genetic Opera - Clips

A horror opera? Sounds like fun. It began as a stage play in 2002, and now will be produced for the big screen through Twisted Pictures and Lionsgate. Saw II, III, and IV director Darren Lynn Bousman has signed on to direct. The cast includes Sarah Brightman, Anthony Head, Paris Hilton, Bill Moseley, Paul Sorvino, and Alexa Vega. There have also been rumors that Ogre, lead singer of Skinny Puppy will be involved. The soundtrack is being produced by Japanese recording artist Yoshiki. Principal photography began in Canada a few weeks ago. Here is a behind the scenes clip as well as a trailer someone made for the stage play. All I can say is that it looks interesting!
