A conference on media coverage of the Iraq war at UC Berkeley begins Tuesday evening and runs through Thursday evening. The SF Chron has a preview.
The full schedule is online. Except for two evening events, a discussion Wednesday between Christiane Amanpour and Hans Blix and a panel Thursday with Maher Abdallah Ahmad (Al Jazeera), John Burns (NY Times), Robert Scheer (LA Times), and Leroy Sievers (Nightline), the conference is free.
Michael Massing who wrote a critical piece on the Iraq war coverage is one of the many speakers. One of the highlights should be lunch Thursday where Mark Danner will interview Judith Miller whose friendship with Chalabi and reporting on weapons of mass destruction were controversial.
Jim Van Nostrand who works for Knight-Ridder is blogging conference and a related seminar. I'll post photos on Wednesday & Thursday.
