He ended up getting another callback, which, he said, “...went really well and then there was no call for about four days. And my manager sent me an email and said, ‘Oh, sorry they ended up not going with you. They wanted to go younger.’” Two weeks later, he found out he got the part.
He called the cast “amazing.” He continued, “I think everyone is cast perfectly to who they are. I really couldn’t have asked for anything else. There’s not one weak person on this cast.”
Matt’s described for us his most embarrassing on-set moment. “My line was, ‘If she thought I had a girlfriend’ and I had done that in front of the live audition three or four times and I went to it again, and I said, ‘If she thought I had a boy—’ and I stopped. I got really embarrassed.”
He also admitted, “I’m obsessed with my cell phone. I probably text … I think my bill is 10,000 texts a month. It’s absolutely ridiculous.”
“I collect movies. I put them in alphabetical order. I won’t necessarily watch them. It’s just the novelty of having them.” He loves all kinds of movies, especially independent movies, calling them “more intelligent.” His five favorite films are also probably five different genres. Shia LaBeouf is his favorite actor, because seeing him act was when he knew he wanted to be an actor.
