It is being reported that martial arts superstars Jet Li, Jackie Chan, and Donnie Yen are going to team up with Zhang Ziyi in a movie to be directed by Zhang Yimou with fight choreography by the master Yuen Woo Ping. There aren't many details emerging yet about what the film will be about, but one would expect it to be a period piece along the lines of Yimou's previous films Hero, and House of Flying Daggers.
Jet Li has been eager to work with Yimou again after the experience he had making Hero. It seems that he was the factor bringing all of these forces together. The intent seems to make the greatest martial arts epic of all time, lofty aspirations, but with this group of people, it's kind of hard to argue!
I for one almost lost it when I read that, who could have ever imagined that we would see all of these stars in the same ring. You know what? I don't even care what the movie is about, it's a do no wrong situation. They could go out there and make Battlefield Earth and I don't think anyone would mind.
The goal is to have this on the screen sometime in the second half of 2006. A year I don't wait! How about you?

Sorry to be so pessimistic, but I find it highly unlikely Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Donnie Yen and Zhang Ziyi would all star together in a Zhang Yimou film to be choreographed by Yuen Wo-ping. hehe.. Such a film would be a dream come true for gong fu/wuxia fans.
