Lucky and Sam took off to Mexico in search of Luke, after Sam got an e-mail from the absent Spencer looking for money. They found his jewel stash on The Haunted Star, but had to evade Tracy’s questions in order to get it off the ship safely. Once in Mexico, the couple immediately ran into trouble of the bar fight and old acquaintance variety. By Friday, Sam was in Federal handcuffs and Lucky was punching out “fellow officers.”
Spinelli was able to stretch his dashing gentleman side as Leyla’s impromptu date for a friend’s wedding. He dazzled her with his dancing and social charms, gallantly withstanding slights the lady took from her friends for coming with a geek instead of the steamy Dr. Leo. Leyla quickly stepped up to Spinelli’s defense, and he returned the favor later when a man made racist remarks to Leyla about her heritage. Though Spinelli found himself in jail over the incident, he was soon released. Later, the goon confronted Spinelli at the coffee house, only to be on the wrong side of several guns when Jason, Milo, and Max leapt to his defense. The Jackal also put Jax’s tutelage into practice on The Haunted Star, donning a sharp suit (c/o Jax’s tailor), slick hair, and a freakishly comfortable Aussie accent that charmed Giselle.
Robin and Patrick continued their emotional struggle over parenthood, but were tested when Robin collapsed while Patrick was out on a craving hunt. It looks like we’re getting closer to these two making some kind of commitment. Kelly orders Robin on bed rest after she has a procedure to help her keep the baby longer, and Patrick lets them both know that he isn’t going anywhere.
This storyline was just one of many last week as GH gave a nod to Father’s Day. We saw Diane emotional as she remembered her father, to whom she was never really able to express her love. We saw Lucky and Jason discuss the arrangement over Jake and Jason’s longing to have a family of his own. We also saw Morgan dealing with not being able to see his dad anymore and the effects of a Father’s Day gift Michael had ordered for Sonny before the shooting. This led to darker scenes where Sonny gave the package to Carly so Jax could in effect take his place as Morgan’s father.
