Spinelli took some drastic steps to win Maxie’s heart, turning to Sam to help him get buff and position him as a desirable hottie who Maxie will notice. This serves as some much-needed comic relief right now, as Lucky comes upon Sam’s door and hears male grunting and suggestive phrases in Sam’s voice. When he opens the door, he finds a smiling Samantha and a nearly passed-out Jackal. Sam explains what’s going on and Spinelli flees, and heads to the coffee house to continue is exercising.
In an attempt to best Lulu, yet again, Maxie calls Johnny Zacchara to get him to take her to a posh party in the city as a return of a favor. He declines, giving Lulu a chance to gloat about how Maxie is not going to win. After Lulu leaves, Maxie calls Johnny back and tells him that she has to talk to him about Luke. Once there, she climbs on top of him and starts to smooch, just as Spinelli walks in.
I think that there are many storylines here that are balancing on a knife’s edge, and can go either way. My hope is that the writers play these games smart and take the opportunity to delve into fresh territory.
