By week’s end, Jason stepped into Sonny’s shoes and showed right off the bat that things will be much different now that “the business” is under his control. Mere hours after signing the papers that put him in control of Sonny’s business, Jason was called down to the docks to watch one of his shipments burn in the harbor. Instead of rallying his minions to exact revenge, Jason goes against their advice and vows that he will handle the situation personally. He has also refused all security, saying he will take care of his own safety.
As Diane, Bernie and Max all raise their eyebrows at the changes Jason is making, it becomes clear that he will not be dissuaded from his course. It’s painfully obvious that he does not like the position he is in, but since it seems he’s on this path of penance for all the wrongs he has wrought, I don’t see it changing any time soon. He says that he and Sonny don’t get to be happy because of all the bad things they’ve done, which I think is kind of shortsighted. Isn’t there any room for change? It seems that Michael’s loss has hit much harder than anyone expected and is taking an enormous toll that the Zacchara organization is looking to exploit.
At the Zacchara compound, Anthony, Ric, Trevor, and Johnny argue about whether or not to move on Jason. While Ric argues that now is the time to take him out, Trevor says to wait and Johnny says to forget it. Anthony flexes his grip as he entertains arguments from all sides. But when they find out one of Jason’s shipments went up in flames, they realize that Anthony went ahead without them. Later we see Jason in Anthony’s office, this time setting it ablaze. After Trevor gets Anthony out of the house, he’s left alone and spies Jason nearby, either as confirmation that he was the one to start the fire or as a prelude to a killing. We shall have to watch and see.
