Making the Rounds at General Hospital - Maxie Targeted by Text Message Killer

Part of: Making the Rounds at General Hospital

On Monday’s General Hospital:

After finally giving her statement to Detective Harper about the black and white ball, a statement that seemed pretty damning to Cooper, Maxie returned home and was attacked by the text-message killer. He might have succeeded, had Georgie not rushed in the door. The only thing either of the Jones girls knew for sure was that he was wearing all black and was of medium build with light brown hair - a description that matched Jerry, Johnny, and Cooper, all of whom were seen wearing all black later in the episode.

Jerry and Johnny seem all too easy scapegoats for this crime. Jerry might have targeted Leticia to scare Carly and Jax away from any involvement with Sonny, and it does make sense for him to target Emily with that blackmail thing between them, but I can't see why he would go after Carly or Maxie. Cooper, however, does have reason to target those close to Sonny (Sonny has been keeping him under his thumb) and Maxie did cheat on him with Logan, but then there's no motive for Emily. The PCPD still seems pretty focused on Johnny, however, with the exception of Detective Harper who seems to understand there is more going on than meets the eye.

Trevor and Johnny offered to buy Lorenzo's waterfront warehouses, which Skye informed them are still tied up in probate. When Johnny's hard business negotiations were taken as a threat by Skye, she outright refused to sell them the property, and left. Ric, who caught the tail end of the exchange in the Metro Court Restaurant, told his father that no harm had better come to Skye.

As much as I complain about some storylines – especially those that put women in degrading positions or use gun violence as not only an answer but sweep-worthy entertainment – there are just as many stories that keep me tuned in. The scenes with Alexis and Diane needling each other over the lawsuit between Kate and Sonny, and the designer shoes Kate gifted Alexis with as a retainer were delightfully fun, and when it comes to poignant, it doesn't get much better than Tracy and Luke.

I could see Cooper being the killer... I have been watching for a while now, but have missed the Brenda leaving storyline. Cooper's last name is Barrett as was Brenda's. I think Cooper could be the killer, targeting people close to Sonny and Jason to avenge his *possible* sister/cousin (or because he thinks they hurt her - because I don't know the exact circumstances regarding the end to Sonny/Brenda Jason/Brenda or even Jax/Brenda). ie Latisha, Carly and Emily. And targeting Maxie because of her betrayl. Can't wait to find out...!! See if my theory has any barrings wathsoever!!

Ok, go with me here. How about these two theories... Harper asked Jason what all the victims have in common.

Theory #1 They all have Lucky in common (except for Leticia, who could just have been mistaken for Carly, it being Carly's home). Carly is Lucky's cousin, Emily is his best friend (1 of them), Maxie was his lover.

Theory #2 Lulu in common. Going with similar connections above (except for Maxie who she hates) What about Logan? Could he be the "bad guy" and getting ready to swoop down as the hero? What was his big secret from Iraq? I missed that one. Could that play into it?

Just my little theories... I just don't think its Coop (too easy) and Johnny is too interesting a character to lose. Oh but could they please lose Trevor.

    Hi Bobbi,

Logan's big secret from Iraq hasn't been revealed yet. It's one of those plot points they bring out only when they need something against him.

I don't feel like Cooper is 'too easy' I think the focus has turned on him now, because they're starting to wrap the story up... though I could be wrong about that.

Lucky or Lulu would make for extremely interesting stories, but I don't they'll put the blemish of murder on either of these Spencers. Since it seems like those who are writing want to turn Lulu, Logan, and Johnny into a new version of the Luke, Laura, Scotty triangle, I don't think any of them will be the killer, and it's quite possible they are setting Logan up to be a hero.

We have to remember when we first saw Cooper he was helping Jerry aka James Craig hold up the Metro Court. I'm still entertaining the fact that if it is Coop, he's working under orders from Jerry or even possibly Ric. (Though Ric has no real reason to take Maxie out)

There was also a planned story for Cooper Barrett to be the catalyst to bring back Brenda Barrett (a story that was heavily teased on Night Shift but then dropped). When he is arrested as the text-message killer (guilty or not) will that bring her in?

Logan, as difficult as it is to admit, has some hinky past issues.

    1. Ric Lansing said if he turned over the information from Iraq, Logan would face a court martial and possible jail.

    2. The fellow (I forget his name) who pulled the life support from Lainey's dad was livid when running into Logan in PC. He literally started a fight that Coop had to break up.

    3. Logan wasn't happy at all when Sonny busted his chops when he left Latisha and Sonny's children unguarded at the mall while they shopped for school supplies.

    4. Carly isn't pleased with Logan at all because she sees the bad boy in him and she sees herself in Lulu. She tells Lulu that the bad boys have that dangerous allure about them but in the end, they break your heart and leave you bitter and often in danger.

    5. Maxie - Need I say more? Baldwin is the only reason Lulu gave Logan another chance at a relationship after the truth came out about the bet/exchange of favors between Maxie and Logan.

    6. Logan is terribly jealous of any guy being around Lulu including Spinelli, Johnny, and let's not forget Max's brother that works for Sonny too. His name escapes me at the moment too.

I am not sure how Emily approached Lulu about Logan so I can't be sure about that but Emily was the sister of Jason who worked for Sonny, which Logan had a beef with after Sonny's threats when his children were left alone. It could be payback via association and siblings (Sonny's previous relationship w/Emily & Jason's sister).

It could be a Helena remix but everything seems to point to Logan when you take motive and reasoning into account. Of course, there is Coop but Coop had to pull that other military fellow off Logan before he beat him to a pulp. Oh yes, then there is the attacks against Logan by Nicolas, which could have spurned a get-back-at-you-by-killing-your-love (Emily) tactic.

What do you think? I still cannot quite dismiss Trevor's involvement but I cannot dismiss Logan's either.

Emily made a fool out of Logan in front of a crowd of people at the ball. She was murdered shortly after.

Leticia told on Logan about not taking care of the kids. Sonny fired Logan. Leticia was killed shortly after.

Logan has shoved around both Maxie and Carly because they weren't cooperating.

Both of you make a great case for Logan being the text message killer, I'm just not convinced they are going to mess up the LuLu/Logan/Johnny triangle by pinning these murders on him.

As was posted in the most recent edition of the column I passed along that there have actually been several different reveal scenes filmed, so no spoiler can really be considered accurate.

I also have a feeling when we find out what the big bad secret is in Logan's sealed military records, we're going to find out he was wrongfully charged or covering up for someone.

Hm, no one of the suspects is the killer, of course. But I have no Idea who it is. Todd Manning, the sleazoid bully from OLTL?

It's being filmed currently to make us think either Cooper or Logan, but as you said it surely won't be one of the obvious, which I believes rules out Johnny, Nikolas, and Jerry as well.

Something about yesterday's show made me wonder about the new Detective Harper. Wasn't he one of the ones wearing black the day that was a clue?

I'm more and more inclined to believe the tmk is Trevor. 1. He's not obvious from the story line, and it would be a shocker since it's not expected. 2. Trevor has motive--all the gals who have been attacked are related in a positive way to Sonny/Jason.
