Making the Rounds at General Hospital - Elizabeth Commits Perjury

Part of: Making the Rounds at General Hospital

On Friday's General Hospital:

Jason's trial was heating up, and it was becoming progressively more evident Ric's case is driven by his deep hatred for Jason and his jealousy over the kinship the man shares with his brother, but we did get a few peripheral storylines on Friday's episode as well.

Having won one date with Lulu in their pool match, Logan took her hiking to an impromptu campsite on Vista Point. As the two talked and shared salsa and beer, it seemed they were opening up to each other and the possibilities. So much so, a downpour couldn't put a damper on their fun. While taking shelter under a picnic table, they kissed.

The chemistry between these two leaps off the screen and despite the strong parallels the writers are drawing between these two and Luke and Laura, or maybe because of them, I'm enjoying watching them. I think the real viewing treat is going to come when Luke returns to find his daughter dating Scott Baldwin's son, though.

Once Carly and Jerry got to Caracas, Carly discovered the infected knife wound on his stomach. While she tried to treat him, the fever got the best of Jerry and he pulled Carly in for a kiss, calling her Irina.

Halfway around the world Irina continued to terrorize Jerry. When threats of torture to himself or a cell mate did nothing to shake his commitment to his wife, Irina threatened to kill Carly if he didn't sleep with her.

While I'm interested to see what happens when Jerry discovers Irina is alive and am enjoying the toying going on between Jerry and Carly there is something very flat about the storyline as a whole. I guess it's the anticipation of the aftermath: Carly and Jax having to work through the fact they were tempted by another. Hmmm, didn't we just go through this with Carly and Sonny?

Yay! Hurray! The truth is finally out! At least part of it anyway. Do you think Liz is going to tell Lucky the truth about Jake's paternity today? I'm not so sure. He up and arrested Jason moments after he brought Jake home. I wouldn't put it past Lucky to arrest Liz for perjury if she comes clean.

But really, he has NO right to get all pissy over Liz's secret. Yes, she's been lying to him for a long time and y all means get angry over her hiding it, but like Nikolas pointed out, he did the EXACT same thing, including having an illegitimate child. He went one step further, throwing his affair in Liz's face, having sex in their bed. And Does he not remember expecting Liz to go along with Maxi having his child? Why should he not extend her the same courtesy?

As for Carly and Jerry, not feeling the chemistry there too much, though the thought of Jerry making some kind of move on Carly has been rolling around in the back of my head the way he's forcing her to play nice with him. I know the kiss was induced by delirium, but I think there is a part of Jerry that wants what his brother has. But this whole send Jax out of town storyline seems so unnecessary to me, as the ulterior motive is not apparent and the overt excuse is really weak. I don't see these two getting together, but I do see Jax starting to get busy with Irina and taking the opportunity to knock her out, get her gun or get away. On the other hand, wouldn't it be a real slap in the face to Carly if he did sleep with Irina and came back with "but I had to, you weren't there, you don't understand," much like she did to him after the hostage crisis.

I think Liz will keep lying to Lucky for the time being, mostly because Jason thinks it's the only way to truly protect Jake and not really out of any sense of loyalty or what's right. My guess is it will be Sam who eventually tells Lucky, causing an even bigger rift between her and Jason.

I think the writers are really trying to put a final end to Jason and Sam to open the door for the return of Brenda Barrett (Supposedly, she will be entering PC on GH at the culmination of Night Shift).

Have to agree Lucky has no real right to his pissy behavior, but I can understand his hurt and pain. I think if Liz would have come clean at the time, they would have found a way through it, but as a year passes, so many lies had to be told to cover up the first one I think we're going to see this couple break-down too, at least for a little while. Though I can't imagine Sam ever wanting to truly be with Lucky. I figure she'll drop him as soon as she's destroyed Liz's marriage.

I think the Jerry/Carly kiss was a 'screen test' of sorts to see if the viewers like the pairing. The problem with Carly and Jax (which leads to these weak storylines) is Ingo Rademacher's contract (similar to Tony Geary's) that gives him several weeks of vacation a year. It's hard to build consistent storylines, especially romances, when the actor is essentially part time.

Jax will sleep with Irina to protect Carly, but Carly will act similar to Lucky -- all put out, even though she had just jumped in Sonny's bed in February.
