Low Expectation: The Thing About My Folks

Peter Falk demonstrates just how little he's able to open his right eye..

The Thing About My Folks

directed by Raymond De Felitta (Two Family House)
written by Paul Reiser ("Mad About You")

produced by Robert F. Newmy (Mindhunters) and Paul Reiser ("Mad About You") and Jeffrey Silver (Mindhunters)

starring  Paul Reiser (One Night at McCool's), Peter Falk (Corky Romano), Olympia Dukakis (Look Who's Talking Now), Elizabeth Perkins (The Ring Two), Lydia Jordan (The Secret Lives of Dentists), Ann Dowd (Garden State), Claire Beckman (The Door in the Floor)

lowdown:  A middle-aged man bonds with his father.

low expectation:
Peter Falk and Paul Reiser are father and son in this observational comedy which pits the two as odd-couple companions on a road trip full of bonding experiences like fishing, ballgames and heart-tugging.  There's also liable to be plenty of embarrassing situations.
Why can't Peter Falk team-up with Alan Arkin again?  Why can't Paul Reiser team-up with, umm, Greg Evigan again?  Those are the pairs I like to remember.  There's no need for another bonding picture between a father and son.  Or grown-ups and their parents in general.  Wasn't Mother enough like sitting through a psychiatrist session?  I'm sorry, but the Jewish-parent thing with these comedians is really not that funny anymore.
Anyway, I think Paul Reiser just made this because Bill Cosby already wrote a book called Fatherhood (see Reiser's other books).
